Anaerobic digestion (AD) is a promising biowaste valorization technology for sustainable energy, circular economy, local energy community growth, and supporting authorities’ environmental goals. This paper presents systematic review meta-analysis methodology biomethane estimation, using over 600 values of volatile solids (VS) content biochemical methane potential (BMP) six different waste streams, collected from 240 scientific studies. The streams include cow manure (CM), sheep/goat (SGM), wheat straw (WS), household (HW), organic fraction municipal solid (OFMSW), sewage sludge (SS). statistical analysis showed mean VS 11.9% 37.3% 83.1% 20.8% 19.4% 10.6% (SS), with BMP 204.6, 184.1, 305.1, 361.7, 308.3, 273.1 L CH4/kg VS, respectively. case study Kozani, Greece, demonstrated the methodology’s applicability, revealing annual CH4 production 15,429,102 m3 (corresponding to 551 TJ energy), SGM, WS, CM as key substrates. aiming climate neutrality by 2030, currently employs conventional management, like composting, while many business residual remain unused. proposed model facilitates design implementation AD units sustainable, climate-neutral future.

Nowadays the pace of production and consumption is reaching environmentally unsustainable levels. In this regard, great technological advances developed in recent years are postulated as a source opportunities to boost circular economy sustainable development. Effectively addressing climate change in line with the Paris Agreement and EU Climate Law requires establishment of governance structures participation coordination all levels government where local level plays a key role. Mitigating urban overheating is vital to create livable futures. Research on heat mitigation plentiful, while knowledge about the actual measures local governments are implementing limited. This study examines 7,500+ actions by 2,500+ cities under two flagship programs of European Commission. The analysis reveals that cities' strategies pivot around green- and water-based technologies (66% actions) mildly leveraging permeable reflective surfaces (35%) rarely solar shading wind control (8%) or stimuli-responsive/smart systems (2%). Hundreds (1) indicate extreme as a hazard growing intensity and/or frequency, (2) located in hot-summer climatic zones, (3) will experience increasingly frequent heatwaves, (4) host numerous population not reporting any precaution. Moreover, show limited familiarity with combinatorial approaches little attention specific vulnerable groups. Prevention, awareness, social justice should receive more attention.

Ceramic slurry wastes have a significant hazardous potential when dumped. Their recycling as raw material is sustainable approach for the development of nature-friendly applications. The microstructure and mechanical properties play key role in success this recycling. samples resulting from wall floor tiles production facility were analyzed. mineral composition was investigated by XRD combined with mineralogical microscopy SEM coupled EDX spectroscopy elemental mapping. ceramic contains: quartz, kaolinite, mullite small amounts lepidocrocite. Quartz particles sizes range 5–100 μm kaolinite has around 1 to 30 μm. Iron hydroxide crystallized lepidocrocite finely distributed among aggregates. It makes unable be reused technological process because glaze staining risk, but it does not affect cohesion. Thus, cylindrical prepared at progressive compactions rates follows: 1808.55; 1853.46; 1930.79 2181.24 kg/m3 dried. Thereafter, subjected compression test lower strength 0.75 MPa density higher 1.36 density. compaction enhances binding ability. Young’s Modulus slightly decreases increasing due local rigidizing. This proves ability which properly embeds quartz into coherent resistant structure. fractography analysis reveals that fracture starts on internal pores low throughout layer high compactness. observed indicate proper clay-based binder ecological buildings, avoiding exploitation new clay quarries. An unsustainable rate of resource production and consumption is evident in urban environments.
