Abstract As a source of diffuse pollution, land use/land cover (LULC) can have profound impacts on water quality. Accordingly, the importance managing land‐water nexus is often emphasized in rhetoric Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM). Several authors, however, cautioned that this need frequently overlooked practice. This partly because stakeholders and policymakers are not equipped with clear accessible information about LULC resources consequent to manage both sustainable coordinated manner. The need for improved abatement of agricultural diffuse water pollution represents cause concern throughout the world. A critical aspect in design on-farm intervention programmes concerns potential technical cost-effectiveness packages control measures. European Union (EU) Water Framework Directive (WFD) calls Programmes Measures (PoMs) to protect freshwater environments and these comprise 'basic' (mandatory) 'supplementary' (incentivised) options. Recent work has used measure review, elicitation stakeholder attitudes a process-based modelling framework identify new alternative set sector measures nutrient sediment across England.
