The
present
review
critically
examines
the
advancements
in
past
5
years
regarding
research
on
bioavailability
and
toxicity
of
nanoplastics
(NPLs)
to
freshwater
plankton.
We
discuss
recent
progress
understanding
adsorption,
absorption,
trophic
transfer,
biological
effects
phyto-
zooplankton
induced
by
NPLs
exposure.
influence
plankton

via
excretion
biomolecules
formation
eco-corona
is
also
examined.
Despite
important
developments,
there
are
still
considerable
knowledge
gaps
with
respect

as
well
a

The
aquaculture
industry
is
growing
rapidly
and
plays
a
huge
role
in
bridging
the
global
demand
gap
for
fish
other
aquatic
foods.
It
vital
contributor
of
valuable
nutrients
economic
benefits.
Aquaculture
fisheries
provide
means
livelihood
to
an
estimated
58.5
million
people
globally,
according
United
Nations
Food
Agriculture
Organisation.
However,
sector
impacted
by
ubiquity
microplastics
toxic
chemicals.
Although
many
studies
have
reported
plastic
pollution
environment,
less
attention
has
been
paid
coexistence
chemicals
with
particles
climate
change
food
contamination.
This
review
evaluates
occurrence
organisms,
feeds,
water,
sediment
ecosystem
detection
hazardous
effects
chemical
contaminants.
We
also
highlight
novel
insights
into
contamination
organisms
ecosystems.
report
that
extent
aquaculture's
contribution
yet
be
adequately
quantified
requires
further
investigation
appropriate
risk
assessment
prevention
safety
crisis.
Possible
mitigation
strategies
highlighted
problems
were
suggested,
some
identified
gaps
