The present review critically examines the advancements in past 5 years regarding research on bioavailability and toxicity of nanoplastics (NPLs) to freshwater plankton. We discuss recent progress understanding adsorption, absorption, trophic transfer, biological effects phyto- zooplankton induced by NPLs exposure. influence plankton NPLs’ via excretion biomolecules formation eco-corona is also examined. Despite important developments, there are still considerable knowledge gaps with respect transfer as well a potential adverse effect natural aquatic systems. As play critical role primary production, nutrient cycling, food web structure, interactions between essential assessing implications pollution for ecosystem biodiversity services.

Chlorella vulgaris is of great importance in numerous exploratory or industrial applications (e.g., medicals, food, and feed additives). Rapid quantification algal biomass crucial photobioreactors for the optimization nutrient management estimation production. The main goal this study to provide a simple, rapid, not-resource-intensive method determining density C. according measured parameters using UV–Vis spectrophotometry. Comparative assessment measurements were conducted with seven different methods filtration, evaporation, chlorophyll extraction, detection optical fluorescence) determine biomass. By analyzing entire spectra diluted algae samples, optimal wavelengths determined through stepwise series linear regression analyses by novel correlation scanning method, facilitating accurate parameter estimation. Nonlinear formulas spectrometry-based processes derived each parameter. As result, general formula concentration was developed, recommendations suitable measuring devices based on levels. New values magnesium content average single-cell weight established, addition development semiautomated cell counting improving efficiency accuracy cultivation biotechnology applications.

The aquaculture industry is growing rapidly and plays a huge role in bridging the global demand gap for fish other aquatic foods. It vital contributor of valuable nutrients economic benefits. Aquaculture fisheries provide means livelihood to an estimated 58.5 million people globally, according United Nations Food Agriculture Organisation. However, sector impacted by ubiquity microplastics toxic chemicals. Although many studies have reported plastic pollution environment, less attention has been paid coexistence chemicals with particles climate change food contamination. This review evaluates occurrence organisms, feeds, water, sediment ecosystem detection hazardous effects chemical contaminants. We also highlight novel insights into contamination organisms ecosystems. report that extent aquaculture's contribution yet be adequately quantified requires further investigation appropriate risk assessment prevention safety crisis. Possible mitigation strategies highlighted problems were suggested, some identified gaps future research indicated. Overall, this work one first efforts assess influence on contamination, emphasising its health.
