Following
the
onset
of
COVID-19
pandemic
and
subsequent
lockdowns,
daily
lives
software
engineers
were
heavily
disrupted
as
they
abruptly
forced
to
work
remotely
from
home.
To
better
understand
contrast
typical
working
days
in
this
new
reality
with
pre-pandemic
times,
we
conducted
one
exploratory
(N
=
192)
confirmatory
study
290)
recruited
remotely.
Specifically,

self-determination

activities
are
associated

satisfaction
productivity.

The
COVID-19
outbreak

ability

our
findings
from
monitoring
WFH
during
2020
in
an
international
software
company
with
engineers
located
Sweden,
USA,
UK.
We
analyzed
different
aspects
of
productivity,
developer
job
satisfaction
well-being,
activity,
communication
collaboration,
efficiency
flow
based
archives

data,
calendar
invites,
Slack
communication,
internal
reports
experiences,

Abstract
Time
is
central
to
many
debates
about
hybrid
work‐
the
impact
on
speed
and
productivity,
commute
times,
synchronisation
of
work.

we
argue
that
time
often
over‐simplified
in
extant
work
literature

ignore
temporal
concepts

inherently
complex,
multi‐faceted,
