Abstract
The
Earth
system
and
the
human
are
intrinsically
linked.
Anthropogenic
greenhouse
gas
emissions
have
led
to
climate
crisis,
which
is
causing
unprecedented
extreme
events
could
trigger
tipping
elements.
Physical
social
forces
can
lead
points
cascading
effects
via
feedbacks
telecoupling,
but
current
generation
of
climate-economy
models
do
not
generally
take
account
these
interactions
feedbacks.
Here,
we
show
importance
interplay
between
societies
systems
in
creating
way
they
turn
affect
sustainability
security.

Climate
change
is
a
severe
global
threat.
Research
on
climate
and
vulnerability
to
natural
hazards
has
made
significant
progress
over
the
last
decades.
Most
of
research
been
devoted
improving
quality
information
hazard
data,
including
exposure
specific
phenomena,
such
as
flooding
or
sea-level
rise.
Less
attention
given
assessment
embedded
social,
economic
historical
conditions
that
foster
societies.
A
number
assessments
based
indicators
have
developed
past
years.
Yet
an
essential
question
remains
how
validate
those
at
scale.
This
paper
examines
different
options
in
terms
their
internal
external
validity,
focusing
two
indicator
systems
used
WorldRiskIndex
INFORM
index.
The
reviews
these
index
best
practices
same
time
presents
new
analysis
results
show
linkages
between
level
disaster
outcomes.
Both
review
support
each
other
help
communicate
validity
uncertainty
assessments.
Next
statistical
validation
methods,
we
discuss
importance
appropriate
link
indicators,
data
indicandum.
We
found
mortality
per
event
from
floods,
drought
storms
15
times
higher
for
countries
ranked
highly
vulnerable
compared
classified
low
vulnerable.

findings

Abstract
The
African
coast
contains
heritage
sites
of
‘Outstanding
Universal
Value’
that
face
increasing
risk
from
anthropogenic
climate
change.
Here,
we
generated
a
database
213
natural
and
71
cultural
to
assess
exposure
coastal
flooding
erosion
under
moderate
(RCP
4.5)
high
8.5)
greenhouse
gas
emission
scenarios.
Currently,
56
(20%)
are
at
1-in-100-year
extreme
event,
including
the
iconic
ruins
Tipasa
(Algeria)
North
Sinai
Archaeological
Sites
Zone
(Egypt).
By
2050,
number
exposed
is
projected
more
than
triple,
reaching
almost
200
emissions.
Emissions
mitigation
RCP
8.5
4.5
reduces
very
highly
by
25%.
These
findings
highlight
urgent
need
for
increased
change
adaptation
in
Africa,
governance
management
approaches,
site-specific
vulnerability
assessments,
monitoring,
protection
strategies.
Abstract
Urban
overheating,
driven
by
global
climate
change
and
urban
development,
is
a
major
contemporary
challenge
that
substantially
impacts
livability
sustainability.
Overheating
represents
multifaceted
threat
to
the
well‐being,
performance,
health
of
individuals
as
well
energy
efficiency
economy
cities,
it
influenced
complex
interactions
between
building,
city,
scale
climates.
In
recent
decades,
extensive
discipline‐specific
research
has
characterized
heat
assessed
its
implications
on
human
life,
including
ongoing
efforts
bridge
neighboring
disciplines.
The
horizon
now
encompasses
problems
involving
wide
range
disciplines,
therefore
comprehensive
integrated
assessments
are
needed
address
such
interdisciplinarity.
Here,
our
objective
go
beyond
review
existing
literature
instead
provide
broad
overview
defining
holistic
pathways
for
addressing
life.
