China is the world’s largest user of industrial robots. In 2016, sales robots in reached 87,000 units, accounting for around 30 percent global market. As the main means to dovetail domestic system with international rules, institutional openness is key deepening participation in global economic governance system, breaking through energy and carbon emission constraints, achieving green sustainable development. Taking 284 prefecture-level cities China from 2006 2019 as research sample, this paper uses establishment of Pilot Free Trade Zones a quasi-natural experiment systematically identify test actual impact on urban emissions asymptotic difference method, instrumental variables spatial econometric model, mediating effects model. Meanwhile, technological progress used entry point analyze intrinsic mechanism action by adopting digital transformation oriented efficiency improvement innovation capability R&D differentiated perspective.
