Plastic pollution is ubiquitous in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. waste exposed to the environment creates problems of significant concern for all life forms. production accumulation natural are occurring at an unprecedented rate due indiscriminate use, inadequate recycling, deposits landfills. In 2019, global plastic was 370 million tons, with only 9% it being recycled, 12% incinerated, remaining left or The leakage wastes into ecosystems rate. management a challenging problem researchers, policymakers, citizens, other stakeholders. The global outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is affecting every part human lives, including the physical world. measures taken to control spread virus and slowdown economic activities have significant effects on environment. Therefore, this study intends explore positive negative environmental impacts COVID-19 pandemic, by reviewing available scientific literatures. This indicates that, pandemic situation significantly improves air quality in different cities across world, reduces GHGs emission, lessens water pollution noise, pressure tourist destinations, which may assist with restoration ecological system. In addition, there are also some consequences COVID-19, such as increase medical waste, haphazard use disposal disinfectants, mask, gloves; burden untreated wastes continuously endangering It seems will return soon after might change. Hence, outlines possible ways achieve long-term benefits. expected that proper implementation proposed strategies be helpful for sustainability.

Abstract Microplastic pollution is becoming a major issue for human health due to the recent discovery of microplastics in most ecosystems. Here, we review sources, formation, occurrence, toxicity and remediation methods microplastics. We distinguish ocean-based land-based sources Microplastics have been found biological samples such as faeces, sputum, saliva, blood placenta. Cancer, intestinal, pulmonary, cardiovascular, infectious inflammatory diseases are induced or mediated by exposure during pregnancy maternal period also discussed. Remediation include coagulation, membrane bioreactors, sand filtration, adsorption, photocatalytic degradation, electrocoagulation magnetic separation. Control strategies comprise reducing plastic usage, behavioural change, using biodegradable plastics. Global production has risen dramatically over past 70 years reach 359 million tonnes. China world's top producer, contributing 17.5% global production, while Turkey generates waste Mediterranean region, at 144 tonnes per day. 75% marine waste, with responsible 80–90% pollution, account only 10–20%. induce toxic effects on humans animals, cytotoxicity, immune response, oxidative stress, barrier attributes, genotoxicity, even minimal dosages 10 μg/mL. Ingestion animals results alterations gastrointestinal tract physiology, system depression, differential gene expression, growth inhibition. Furthermore, bioaccumulation tissues aquatic organisms can adverse ecosystem, potential transmission birds. Changing individual behaviours governmental actions, implementing bans, taxes, pricing carrier bags, significantly reduced consumption 8–85% various countries worldwide. The microplastic minimisation approach follows an upside-down pyramid, starting prevention, followed reducing, reusing, recycling, recovering, ending disposal least preferable option.

The ongoing COVID-19 disease significantly affects not only human health, it also the wealth of country' economy and everyday routine life. To control spread virus, face mask is used as primary personal protective equipment (PPE). Thus, production usage masks increase pandemic still escalating. Further, most these contain plastics or other derivatives plastics. Therefore, this extensive generates million tons plastic wastes to environments in a short span time. This study aims investigate environmental impact induced by sustainable solution reduce waste. An online survey was carried out identify types number per week an individual from 1033 people. Based on available literature, quantifies amount waste generated masks. However, limited with certain ages, country durations (July-August 2020). prediction generation, provide fundamental knowledge about wastes. Results revealed that there huge remained land marine environment form waste, which will contribute micro-plastic pollution. paper highlights approach integrating use natural plant fiber woven technology upcycling producing construction materials discussed.
