Microplastic exposure has become unavoidable, leading to their presence in living organisms. One area of particular concern is the genotoxicity microplastics, which implications for reproductive health and cancer development. This review aims highlight genotoxic effects microplastics on different organisms, focusing impacts chromosomes, DNA, gene expression. More than 85 papers, primarily published last five years, have been reviewed. indicates that can cause clastogenesis aneugenesis at chromosome level. Clastogenesis results damage, while leads failures segregation without causing direct damage. Additionally, fracture damage DNA. These arise from (1) through interactions with associated proteins; (2) indirect due production reactive oxygen species (ROS) by oxidative stress induced microplastics. Microplastics trigger activation genes related inflammatory response, increased ROS production. Furthermore, they may alter expression other biological processes. The linked stem particles themselves chemicals, it appears be both size- dose-dependent.

Humans cannot avoid plastic exposure due to its ubiquitous presence in the natural environment. The waste generated is poorly biodegradable and exists form of MPs, which can enter human body primarily through digestive tract, respiratory or damaged skin accumulate various tissues by crossing biological membrane barriers. There an increasing amount research on health effects MPs. Most literature reports focus impact plastics respiratory, digestive, reproductive, hormonal, nervous, immune systems, as well metabolic MPs accumulation leading epidemics obesity, diabetes, hypertension, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. xenobiotics, undergo ADMET processes body, i.e., absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, are not fully understood. Of particular concern carcinogenic chemicals added during manufacturing adsorbed from environment, such chlorinated paraffins, phthalates, phenols, bisphenols, be released when absorbed body. continuous increase NMP has accelerated SARS-CoV-2 pandemic there was a need use single-use products daily life. Therefore, urgent diagnose problems related MP detection.

The intensification of microplastics (MPs) pollution has emerged as a formidable environmental challenge, with profound global implications. pervasive presence MPs across multitude mediums, such the atmosphere, soil, and oceans, extends to commonplace items, culminating in widespread human ingestion accumulation via channels like food, water, air. In domestic realm, kitchens have become significant epicenters for pollution. A plethora kitchen utensils, encompassing coated non-stick pans, plastic cutting boards, disposable are known release substantial quantities particles everyday use, which can then be ingested alongside food. This paper conducts thorough examination contemporary research addressing from utensils during usage focuses on health risks associated ingestion, well myriad factors influencing utensils. Leveraging insights derived this analysis, proposes series strategic recommendations measures targeted at mitigating production settings. These initiatives designed not solely diminish but also enhance public awareness regarding pressing concern. By adopting more informed practices kitchens, we significantly contribute reduction burden pollution, thus safeguarding both ecological system.

Plastics are present in almost every aspect of our lives. Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is commonly used the food industry. Microparticles can contaminate and drinks, posing a threat to consumers. The presented study aims determine effect microparticles PET on population neurons positive for selected neurotransmitters enteric nervous system jejunum histological structure. An amount 15 pigs were divided into three groups (control, receiving 0.1 g, 1 g/day/animal orally). After 28 days, fragments collected immunofluorescence examination. obtained results show that changes (injury apical parts villi, accumulations cellular debris mucus, eosinophil infiltration, hyperaemia) more pronounced higher dose microparticles. neuronal nitric oxide synthase-, substance P-positive neurons, depends examined plexus increase percentage galanin-positive decrease cocaine amphetamine-regulated transcript-, vesicular acetylcholine transporter-, vasoactive intestinal peptide-positive do not such relationships. shows potentially have neurotoxic pro-inflammatory effects, but there need further research mechanism this process possible effects.
