The transition from food waste to security is a critical component of sustainability efforts. This approach focuses on repurposing organic products generated throughout the supply chain into valuable resources. Food waste, encompassing everything agricultural residues post-consumer represents significant untapped potential that can be harnessed enhance security. By implementing strategies such as composting, bioconversion, and innovative recycling technologies, biowastes transformed fertilizers, animal feed, even new products, thus closing loop in system aiding sustainable solutions for valorization. not only addresses environmental concerns by reducing landfill greenhouse gas emissions but also contributes economic creating opportunities within production management sectors. Ultimately, transforming resource aligns with broader goals circular economy, ensuring sustainable, resilient, food-secure future.

The transportation sector is marked by high emissions, and new sustainable solutions are required to solve this problem. Biomethane, also known as green gas, has the potential regenerate certain wastes, promoting resource circularity. This study aimed at evaluating profitability of small- medium-sized plants using organic fraction municipal solid waste (OFMSW) by-products, considering a incentive decree within mature biogas-biomethane market Italy. Net present value (NPV) was used key indicator, sensitivity, scenario, risk analyses were proposed. results showed that subsidy for by-products contributed across multiple contexts. Conversely, stringent values OFMSW led diminished treating substrate. Consequently, verified 100 m3/h with 300 OFMSW. break-even point analysis tariff determining project profitability, contingent on size substrate, ranged from 0.61 0.95 €/m3 0.76–1.01 by-products. provide valuable policy managerial insights, emphasizing support needed biomethane – renewable circular achieve twin goals energy independence low-carbon economy. contribute achievement Sustainable Development Goals 7 12.

The development of the bioeconomy in European Union is promoted through various policies. In Greece, however, there a paucity research on issues and policies at both national regional levels. This study systematically examines feasibility developing blueprint within context geographically isolated mountainous region. By employing an integrated strategic framework combining sustainable resource management, innovation participatory governance, proposed emphasizes transition from conventional, unsustainable economic practices to contemporary paradigm underpinned by tenets circular economy utilization local resources. A central tenet enhancement collaborative endeavors among stakeholders, academic institutions, business entities, with overarching objective being promotion cutting-edge technologies diversification Concurrently, emphasis placed necessity establish conducive policies, regulatory frameworks, financial mechanisms that will facilitate industries mitigate environmental impact. text importance human resources educational training programs, ensuring adaptability demands emerging bioeconomy. concludes that, despite inherent difficulties arising geographical isolation limited access resources, region has potential for development. region’s capacity contingent upon implementation suitable strategies mobilization investment, which be instrumental establishment robust environmentally model.

Perception and awareness can affect behaviour decision-making, for example, how companies implement Circular Economy (CE) practices. However, there is limited empirical research about this topic. Thus, we investigated the perception of representatives from water-intensive bio-based sectors regarding CE concept based on interviews a survey with 10 in Sweden. Our results indicate that understood mainly as zero waste its key principles are resource efficiency ecodesign. Missing (or partially addressed) important elements consumption, social aspects, regenerative role CE, collaboration, Industrial Symbiosis. Bioeconomy is an emerging concept and no commonly accepted definition has been given so far. strategies attempt to cover every aspect of this from a different perspective, depending on the country, region, or organisation issuing them. For these reasons, each strategy its own priority fields economic, geomorphological, social, ecological, technological conditions country. In review, made study bioeconomy through systematic review literature. PRISMA analysis was used literature strategies. The examined issue in rich academic two databases, Scopus AgEcon. Using repeatable search process identify relevant studies literature, only 68 publications met eligibility criteria that were included review. results show there are trends years 2013–2022. Moreover, economic development respective countries foreshadows their priorities. A successful transition bioeconomic model requires participation society as whole, because sustainable whole environmentally friendly solutions. concludes governance with global coordination stakeholder training needed for implementation
