Abstract Background Dietitians play a critical role in the public's relationship with food and are often overlooked as an important stakeholder group general debate about sustainable food. Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) one type of modern source that could contribute to more system. This case study is first examine knowledge, perception willingness‐to‐recommend (WTR) genetically (GM) foods by dietitians Europe. Methods An online survey was addressed all members Flemish Association (Belgium) 2021, resulting sample 98 valid responses. Multivariate linear regression included sociodemographic, attitudinal factors independent variables explain dietitians' WTR. Results had limited knowledge GMOs; only half GM questions were answered correctly. Most (53%–76%) would recommend GMOs positive effects on human nutrition or sustainability, whereas few (19%–27%) other GMO applications. Trust information sources perceived benefits significantly influenced WTR foods. Predominant negative associated low trust such Conclusions Countering predominantly portrayal neutral factual improve trust, which turn positively influence perceptions towards GMOs. By further examining worldwide gene‐edited products, new insights be gathered into positioning this underexposed group.

Novel plant-breeding techniques such as CRISPR are potentially key tools in the transition to a more sustainable food and agricultural system. For potential be realized, greater attention is required outstanding questions related public societal acceptance. The current research thus employed structural model elucidate interplay of factors that influence behavioral intentions towards CRISPR, for sample 158 individuals United States. By means partial least-squares equation modeling (PLS-SEM), we established predominance perceived benefits vis-à-vis risks explaining intentions, along with indirect effects technology neophobia, social trust, environmental worldviews, all transmitted through – less so, risks. Overall, this offers insights regarding food, highlighting how consumers may interested understanding than being dissuaded about any possible signaling ways which perceptions might influenced. Indeed, strength relationship between counterpoint arguments not relevant acceptance well marks point distinction GM GE food.

Genetically modified crops (GM crops) also known as biotech are that have been altered through genetic engineering techniques and under cultivation for approximately 28 years. By October 2024, over 30 nations approved the of GM crops. The global area utilized crop production has reached 206.3 million hectares. Despite substantial growth in these crops, debate continues between proponents opponents In this article, critical concerns common ground arguments both sides were described. main issues addressed include naturalness religious perspectives, beneficial aspects, safety issues, socio-economic impacts intellectual property rights. Worldwide food security is under threat in the actual scenery of global climate change because major staple crops are not adapted to hostile climatic and soil conditions. Significant efforts have been performed maintain yield crops, using traditional breeding innovative molecular techniques assist them. However, additional strategies necessary achieve future demand. Clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeat/CRISPR-associated protein (CRISPR/Cas) technology, as well its variants, emerged alternatives transgenic plant breeding. This novelty has helped accelerate modifications confront impact abiotic stress on agriculture systems. review summarizes current advances CRISPR/Cas applications deal with main conditions, such drought, flooding waterlogging, salinity, heavy metals, nutrient deficiencies. In addition, potential extremophytes a reservoir new mechanisms for tolerance, their orthologue identification edition shown.
