Mechanochemistry provides an environmentally benign platform to develop more sustainable chemical processes by limiting raw materials, energy use, and waste generation while using physically smaller equipment. A continuously growing research community has steadily showcased examples of beneficial mechanochemistry applications at both the laboratory preparative scale. In contrast solution-based chemistry, mechanochemical have not yet been standardized, thus scaling up is still a nascent discipline. The purpose this Minireview highlight similarities, differences challenges various approaches that successfully applied for range scales. We hope provide discussion starting point those interested in further developing commercial use and/or industrialisation.

In the last few decades, mechanochemistry has become rapidly established as a powerful tool enabling environmentally-benign and sustainable chemical syntheses. Not only have these techniques been demonstrated viable alternatives to traditional solution-based syntheses, but they also received attention for their ability enable new reactivity "unlocking" novel compounds inaccessible by conventional methods. Reflecting rising popularity of mechanochemistry, many excellent reviews highlighting its benefits recently published. Whilst scope most focuses on organic chemistry, transition-metal catalysis, porous framework materials, coordination supramolecular synthesis, addressed use mechanochemical ball milling synthesis containing s- p-block elements. This tutorial review turns spotlight towards research in field inorganic main group significant advantages that solid-state reactions often possess, potential drive development greener methodologies within modern arena.

In recent years, mechanochemistry has been growing into a widely accepted alternative for chemical synthesis. addition to their efficiency and practicality, mechanochemical reactions are also recognized sustainability. The association between Green Chemistry often originates from the solvent-free nature of most protocols, which can reduce waste production. However, satisfies more than one Principles Chemistry. this Review we will present series examples that clearly illustrate how significantly contribute fulfillment in holistic manner.

Over the past decade, photoredox catalysis has harnessed light energy to accelerate bond-forming reactions. We postulated that a complementary method for redox-activation of small organic molecules in response applied mechanical could be developed through piezoelectric effect. Here, we report agitation materials via ball milling reduces aryl diazonium salts. This mechanoredox system can arylation and borylation reactions under mechanochemical conditions.

Abstract In recent years, the application of mechanical energy to chemical systems has repeatedly proven beneficial facilitate transformations in various areas chemistry. Today, a systematic body evidence indicates that mechanochemistry holds great promise become game‐changer synthesis. Not only does permit access products are inaccessible by established means (e.g. purely thermal activation), mechanochemical reactions often outperform their solution‐based counterparts terms sustainability. Most carried out ball milling techniques involve solids and liquids, but number with gaseous reactants is increasing. The aim this Minireview provide an overview involving samples highlight advances technology for safe handling reagents. Examples proceeding at interface solid–/liquid–/gas–gas led significant improvements reactivity or selectivity will also be highlighted.
