A search, in line Preferred Reporting Items Systematic Reviews Meta-Analyses guidelines, PsychInfo, PubMed, Cochrane Database Reviews, MEDLINE databases were performed, all relevant articles published between 2010 March 2020 included. total 11 included, eight that focused on EMDR three CBT. The methodological quality many these was generally weak. Tentative findings suggest CBT acceptable feasible treatment options among varying levels delay, but no firm conclusions can be drawn regarding due small sample sizes, lack standardized assessment, paucity rigorous designs. highlights continued use approaches clients presenting IDs PTSD. It adds extant literature by providing an expansive broad overview current Further high-quality research needed provide more conclusive modifications this population.

This study assessed expert consensus the traumatic potential broader range adverse life events, and differences symptom manifestation behavioural equivalents post‐traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms. Method The present authors conducted three‐step Delphi survey using mixed‐methods design. Twenty‐nine raters participated survey, 16 persisted to final round. Consensus was calculated interquartile range. Results Traumatic attributed particularly revolving around sexuality autonomy. DSM‐5 symptoms PTSD were rated as partially adequate, expression being main difference general population. Conclusion events should be broadened for A specific subset need defined future research. Abstract Background Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) are at increased risk for adverse experiences developing posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). However, trauma PTSD in this population frequently underdiagnosed undertreated. Despite the availability of multiple types trauma‐specific treatments general population, there is a gap understanding these collective interventions within IDD literature. Specific Aims The aim article was to conduct review peer‐reviewed literature on treatment published from 2008 2018. Method A systematic search online databases conducted using Academic Search Premier, MEDLINE, PsycARTICLES, Social Work Abstracts. quality appraisal studies included review. Findings Twelve articles described four treatments: child–parent psychotherapy, exposure therapy, trauma‐focused cognitive behavior eye movement desensitization reprocessing therapy. All demonstrated that were well tolerated associated improvement symptoms. Eight sustained follow‐up, ranging 6 weeks 5 years. Discussion Research among individuals continues present methodological limitations yet provides considerations future practice foundation research.

Introduction: Persons with mild intellectual disability or borderline functioning (MID-BIF, IQ 50–85) are at high risk for the development of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). A diagnostic instrument to establish a valid and reliable DSM-5 PTSD diagnosis in adults MID-BIF was lacking. Abstract It is increasingly recognised that many people with intellectual disabilities suffer from post‐traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Eye‐movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) has been proposed as a potentially helpful intervention less reliant on verbal skills than other effective treatments for PTSD therefore could be more interventions disabilities. The Trauma‐AID project randomised clinical trial (RCT) evaluating the effectiveness of bespoke EMDR protocol adults disability PTSD, which incorporates prolonged phase Psycho‐Education Stabilisation (PES) prior to trauma confrontation EMDR.
