Abstract Background . This article presents a critical literature review and meta-analysis of diagnostic performance Quidel Sofia SARS antigen Fluorescent Immunoassay (FIA), rapid test (RDT-Ag) adapted for automatic reading with portable instruments, thus potentially combining the advantages point-of-care testing those laboratory-based immunoassay. Methods: We conduced an electronic search in PubMed Scopus keywords "Quidel" OR “SOFIA” AND “Antigen” "SARS-CoV-2" “COVID-19” up to March 24, 2023, identifying articles containing data on accuracy FIA diagnosing acute SARS-CoV-2 infections. selected where was compared that reference molecular assay, sufficient information constructing 2×2 table. Results: A total number 18 (48165 samples; 9.8% positive at testing) were included this meta-analysis, averaging 24 sample cohorts. The (summary area under curve), sensitivity specificity 0.980, 0.76 1.00 all samples, 0.981, 0.81 0.99 samples collected from symptomatic patients, 0.931, 0.55 taken asymptomatic 0.960, 0.77 mixed cohorts respectively. Minor clinically negligible differences could be found by comparing results nasal nasopharyngeal swabs. Conclusion: Ag meets minimum criteria antigenic testing, satisfactory being used as device.

Abstract Point‐of‐care testing (POCT) is experiencing a groundbreaking transformation with microfluidic chips, which offer precise fluid control and manipulation at the microscale. Nevertheless, chip design or operation for existing platforms rather cumbersome, some even heavily depending on external drivers devices, impeding their broader utilization. This study develops unique programmable gravity self‐driven (PGSMC) capable of simultaneous multi‐reagent sequential release, multi‐target analysis, multi‐chip operation. All necessary reagents are introduced in single step, process initiated simply by flipping PGSMC vertically, eliminating need additional steps devices. Additionally, it demonstrates successful immunoassays less than 60 min antinuclear antibodies testing, compared to more 120 traditional methods. Assessment using 25 clinically diagnosed cases showcases remarkable sensitivity (96%), specificity (100%), accuracy (99%). These outcomes underscored its potential as promising platform POCT high accuracy, speed, reliability, highlighting capability automated control.

Abstract Background Throughout the evolution of COVID‐19 pandemic, severity disease has varied. The aim this study was to determine how patients' comorbidities affected and were related to, different outcomes during time. Methods Retrospective cohort all patients testing positive for SARS‐CoV‐2 infection between March 1, 2020, January 9, 2022. We extracted sociodemographic, basal comorbidities, prescribed treatments, vaccination data, such as death admission hospital intensive care unit (ICU) periods pandemic. used logistic regression quantify effect each covariate in outcome variable a random forest algorithm select most relevant comorbidities. Results Predictors included having dementia, heart failure, kidney disease, or cancer, while arterial hypertension, diabetes, ischemic heart, cerebrovascular, peripheral vascular diseases, leukemia also relevant. Heart cancer predictors adverse (death ICU admission) with Arterial kidney, hospitalization, dyslipidemia respiratory, diseases Conclusions Preexisting cardiovascular renal cancers those outcomes. Of particular note discrepancies hospitalization fact that dementia had lower probability being admitted first wave.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on healthcare, including cancer management. This study aimed to investigate the prognostic of pandemic, throughout its duration, patient care for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). We collected clinical data patients with unresectable PDAC who underwent palliative chemotherapy at five medical facilities in Fukushima, Japan. were divided into two groups: group A (nonpandemic cohort) and B (pandemic cohort). Survival analysis was performed progression-free survival (PFS) overall (OS) via Kaplan‒Meier method log-rank test. In total, 249 selected analysis. Patients Group significantly greater serum CA19-9 levels proportions combination therapy; however, we did not find differences between groups PFS (Group vs. B: 5.6 months 4.4 months, HR = 0.82 (95% CI, 0.6-1.1), p 0.17) or OS (14.8 12.3 0.81 0.7-1.3), 0.81) observe negative prognosis pandemic.
