Youth with chronic developmental delays and comorbid psychological disorders (complex needs) who live in out-of-home care are at increased risk of difficulties all life areas. Social and personal relationships are critical for transition-age youth (TAY) as they transition out of foster care to adulthood. Abstract Regardless of the type residential care context, entering in is an impactful event that involves separation young people from their relatives, as well need to adapt a new context. This adaptation might be facilitated by quality relationships with professionals these settings, which turn may positively impact people’s psychological adjustment. Purpose: The current systematic review aims identify factors associated homes (i.e., generalist care, therapeutic juvenile justice settings) at different ecological levels. Abstract Drawing on an ecological approach with multiple informants, this study investigated the mediating role of youth–caregiver relationship quality in associations between different features residential care settings' organizational social context and youth's psychopathology. Participants were 378 youth aged 12 25 years old, 54 caregivers 24 57 from 29 generalist settings Portugal. Given hierarchical structure data, analyses performed using multilevel modeling. Results revealed that contexts characterized by higher levels engagement, stress, centralization, as perceived caregivers, associated lower externalizing problems (e.g., aggressive behavior delinquency), reported via better quality, care. These findings highlight relevance creating supports establishing high‐quality relationships care, thereby promoting their mental health. Healthcare professionals are at higher risk of developing and experiencing burnout. Parents may also suffer from prolonged stressful conditions that lead to physical emotional exhaustion. Residential youth care workers assume a caregiving role can persistent affect their relationship with the youth. This study aimed to explore the perceptions and experiences of professionals working in residential care (RC) settings (i.e., caregivers directors) about youth-caregiver relationship quality (YCRQ).
