Abstract Aim To refine the Rushton Moral Resilience Scale (RMRS) by creating a more concise scale, improving reliability, particularly of personal integrity subscale and providing further evidence validity. Background Healthcare workers are exposed to moral adversity in practice. When unable preserve/restore their integrity, suffering ensues. resilience is resource that may mitigate negative consequences. better understand mechanisms for doing so, valid reliable measurement tool necessary. Design Cross‐sectional survey. Methods Participants ( N = 1297) had completed ≥1 items on RMRS as part baseline survey larger longitudinal study. Item analysis, confirmatory factor analyses, reliability analyses (Cronbach's alpha), correlations were used establish validity revised RMRS. Results analysis from 21 16 items. The four‐factor structure (responses adversity, relational efficacy) demonstrated adequate fit follow‐up initial hold‐out sub‐samples. All subscales total scale reliabilities α ≥ 0.70). A higher‐order supports computation either scores or score. Correlations with stress, anxiety, depression distress provide scale's Reliability improved. Conclusion Implications RMRS‐16 demonstrates validity, subscale. an important lever reducing consequences when confronted ethical challenges Improved four having shorter overall allow targeted application will facilitate research intervention development. Background Healthcare professionals, especially professional nurses, experience various types of moral suffering due to inevitable ethical conflicts. Moral resilience is recently proposed as a resource address suffering. However, there no tool measure in Chinese nurses. Aim This study aimed translate the Rushton Resilience Scale (RMRS) into and evaluate psychometric properties version RMRS (Chi-RMRS). Research design A methodological descriptive research design. Participants context convenience sample 411 nurses was recruited through an online survey platform between February March 2023. Ethical considerations approved by Ethics Committees University hospitals involved. Results The translated culturally adapted version. Neither floor nor ceiling effects were observed. scale-level content validity index (CVI) 0.922 with item-level CVIs ranging from 0.833 1.000. explanatory factor analysis (EFA) generated three-factor structure for Chi-RMRS, confirmatory (CFA) demonstrated loadings each item 0.42 0.80. Cronbach’s α coefficient 0.811 dimension 0.717 0.821, composite reliability (CR) overall scale 0.920, varying 0.739 0.824. standard error measurement (SEM) smallest detectable change (SDC) 3.522 9.763, respectively. Discussion Chi-RMRS able has good reliability. It can be used practice determine level resilience, thus helping nursing managers monitor status then develop interventions maintain well-being ensure quality care.
