Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) groups within high-income countries are at risk of being left behind by the COVID-19 vaccination rollout. They face both access attitudinal barriers, including low trust in government health authorities.To explore perceptions attitudes towards vaccination, as well facilitators, barriers strategies to promote uptake among CALD residents Western Australia (WA), where there were almost no cases for 2 years.Perth, WA's capital, was chosen state's study site because most population lives there. Eleven semistructured in-depth interviews three focus (with 37 participants) conducted with between August October 2021. During the COVID-19 pandemic, effective crisis communication has been crucial yet challenging, especially for culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities. This study explored how CALD Asian communities in New Zealand accessed trusted various sources of information. A cross-sectional online survey with 1,267 respondents was conducted 2021. Findings revealed that participants engaged information, despite delays government efforts to provide appropriate Those without English as a first language tended have access fewer information sources. Objectives This review examined the factors influencing communication and engagement with ethnic racial minority groups in Australia during COVID-19 pandemic. It aimed to answer two main questions: (1) what problems people from these communities typically faced pandemic? Abstract Throughout the peak periods of Australia's COVID‐19 pandemic experience 2020–2021, some lower socioeconomic areas with high migrant populations in Sydney and Melbourne were subjected to strict lockdown enforcement that included heavy police surveillance not experienced more affluent these cities. Analysis four major newspapers' coverage from January 2020 September 2021 reveals their reporting focussed on aspects individual behaviour inferred people had a heightened risk exposure COVID‐19. We argue this media portrayal severe lockdowns policing measures played prominent role exacerbating previously existing stigma as it compounded levelled at those communities. It further contributed an “us them” mentality aligned persistent structural inequality compound develop slow violence COVID‐19‐related stigma. The lens allows us track incremental stigmatising processes, often imperceptible when viewed isolation. Abstract Background The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic highlighted the challenges of effective emergency risk communication (ERC) to protect public health, including difficulty in tackling spread inaccurate information. This study aimed understand those and potential solutions by interviewing leading government spokespersons their advisors from around world with experience during large scale emergencies. Interviews were conducted 27 individuals representing governments 19 countries across five continents. Thematic analysis, using both a deductive inductive approach, organized identified salient themes patterns that emerged interview data. Results thematic analysis interviews’ data led identification 9 principles communication: 1) Timeliness, 2) Transparency, 3) Coordination, 4) Accuracy Consistency, 5) Accountability Integrity, 6) Independence politics, 7) Responsiveness, 8) Equity, 9) Trust Empathy. We also developed 36 recommendations actionable agencies enhance practice principles. Examples include need for: proactive strategies, permanent task forces integrated into preparedness response efforts, robust processes open discussion controversial topics within agencies, clarification how various branches coordinate oversee specific aspects overall communication, development relationships private entities ahead crisis. Conclusions Our findings suggest key practical for leaders ERC capabilities going forward. Before crisis, they must constantly review internal integrate functions planning efforts. Abstract Aim As the COVID-19 pandemic response continues to evolve, need protect more vulnerable populations in society becomes apparent. Studies are still emerging on how different population groups have been impacted by pandemic. Our study explored impact of for African migrants New South Wales, Australia, and their coping strategies. Methods We employed inductive, exploratory qualitative interpretive research design using individual semi-structured in-depth interviews with 21 migrants. Results lockdowns disrupted sense community. Social isolation, financial insecurity due joblessness, or reduced working hours led stress, frustration, anxiety, sadness, loneliness, depression. On other hand, allowed family time, reflecting, appreciating gift life personal intellectual growth. Despite such challenges, there was much community support, especially from religious organisations. Support government agencies available, but access hampered misinformation, digital literacy, immigration status. Holding religion faith a key mechanism, followed indulging self-care practices as healthy eating, exercise, Yoga, meditation, sleep, limited interaction social media. Conclusion The lockdown collectivist culture had untoward socioeconomic impacts that affected wellbeing, many which reflect an exacerbation pre-existing inequities. To ensure migrant COVID-19–related health wellbeing needs met, must be actively involved every facet NSW future outbreak efforts.

Background The Australian Government implemented a range of public health response strategies and communication approaches to reduce the spread COVID-19; however, concerns have been raised around failure sufficiently consider culturally linguistically diverse (CaLD) communities in these processes.
