Large amounts of enriched cadmium (Cd) in the environment seriously threatens healthy and sustainable development aquaculture industry greatly restricts food processing industry. Studying distribution toxic effects Cd fish, as well possible on human body, is very significant. A large number studies have shown that accumulation fish are biologically specific, cause tissue differences, damage integrity structure function, antioxidant defense system, reproductive regulation immune system. The physiological, biochemical, enzyme, molecular, gene expression levels change with different concentrations times exposure, these changes closely related to target sites action tissues fish. Therefore, occur multiple tissues, systems, levels.

Heavy metals cause deleterious effects on human health and drastically alter the biogeochemical cycles within freshwater habitats. The main activities leading to heavy metal contamination of various aquatic ecosystems comprise industry, agriculture, urbanization, transport mining. Lake Nasser is source in Egypt, usually polluted from upstream hydrographic basin River Nile. current study surveyed impact (i.e., Cd, Zn, Pb Cu) water, sediment two Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) fish organs (liver muscles) at six sampling sites along Nasser. Additionally, bioaccumulation ecosystem, via sediments were investigated. conclusion that water safe for use terms consumption, agricultural utilization public sanitation.

Despite being an essential trace element for numerous metabolic processes and micronutrients, copper (Cu) has induced adverse effects on the environment public health due to its continuous widespread use last several decades. The current study assessed hematological histopathological alterations in freshwater fish ( Labeo rohita ) exposed graded concentrations of sulfate. For this purpose, L. n = 72), weighing ~200–215 g, were randomly divided into four experimental groups then acute doses CuSO 4 , i.e., control, 0.28, 0.42, 0.56 μgL −1 . comparative analysis biochemical changes, blood/serum samples obtained 12, 24, 36 days. Overall, body weight decreased with time dose ; as increases, decreases. Dose time-dependent results observed other parameters also. Results showed a significant increase leukocytes, whereas red blood cells count, Hb, Hct significantly reduced treated compared control. mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MHC) concentration (MCHC) non-significant decrease control group. Serum parameters, including total proteins, albumin, globulin, p < 0.05). At same time, alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), glucose, cholesterol 0.05) increased Significantly levels lipid peroxidation while values antioxidant enzymes, superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione (RGSH) recorded. Histopathological examination gills, liver, kidneys inflammation degenerative changes exposure. In brain tissue, like neuron necrosis, intracellular edema, cytoplasmic vacuolization, congestion observed. conclusion, indicates that exposure sulfate, even smaller concentrations, can cause fish.

Abstract Drinking water treatment residuals (DWTRs) produced as a result of the coagulation-flocculation process during are considered waste materials. Characterization this material shows its ability to sequester metals and other anionic cationic chemicals. from two different drinking plants located in Wyoming Oregon were evaluated for their function viable capping materials metal-contaminated sediments. The contaminated sediments tested either spiked with mixture metals, 1 mg/kg Cu, Zn, Cd, Pb, or coming an intertidal sediment collected at U.S. Naval Air Station. A Gust chamber experiment was used determine metal fluxes these into overlying applied hydrodynamic stress 0.05 0.4 Pa absence presence DWTR material. effectively reduced amount released waters value below National Recommended Aquatic Life Criteria Cr, but slightly above Cd. toxicity vivo 96 hr fathead minnow survival assay. In capping, all fry died within hr. Capping contamination, 95% fish survived. less successful, equivalent diluting original by factor 100. residual metallothionein fish, biomarker corroborating experiments. These results suggest that DWTRs may be very effective remediation sites.
