We hypothesized that auditory stimulation could reduce the progression of Alzheimer’s disease (AD), and audiovisual have additional effects through multisensory integration. exposed 12 month old Apoetm1.1(APOE*4)Adiuj mice (a mouse model sporadic AD) to (A) or (AV) at 40 Hz for 14 days in a soundproof chamber system (no stimulation, N). Behavioral tests were performed before after each session, their brain tissues assessed amyloid-beta expression apoptotic cell death, days. Furthermore, levels acetylcholine apoptosis-related proteins analyzed. In Y-maze test, percentage relative alternation was significantly higher group A than N mice. Amyloid-beta TUNEL positivity hippocampal CA3 region lower AV (p < 0.05). Previous research has demonstrated that 40-Hz audiovisual stimulation can improve pathological conditions and promote cognitive function in mouse models of Alzheimer's disease. However, limited been conducted on humans, the results have inconsistent. In our study, we divided participants into an experimental group a control to investigate whether could enhance performance visual threshold tasks working memory task. Experiment 1, used light bulb as stimulus source found general practice effect, but no difference between groups. 2, computer screen set frequency 48 Hz. 3 , audio sources, simultaneously applying both auditory modalities. Both experiments only revealed disappearance effects (48-Hz) group. 4 focused testing spatial memory, did not identify any significant differences or within 5, tested various frequencies; yet again, were found. Based comprehensive results, conclude does promoting effect memory.

Gamma oscillations in brain activity (30–150 Hz) have been studied for over 80 years. Although the past three decades significant progress has made to try understand their functional role, a definitive answer regarding causal implication perception, cognition, and behavior still lies ahead of us. Here, we first review basic neural mechanisms that give rise gamma then focus on two main pillars exploration. The pillar examines major theories role information processing brain, also highlighting critical viewpoints. second reviews novel research direction proposes therapeutic oscillations, namely entrainment using sensory stimulation (GENUS). We extensively discuss both positive findings issues reproducibility GENUS. Going beyond gamma, propose third exploration, where generated endogenously by cortical circuits, is essential maintenance healthy circuit function. four classes interneurons, those expressing parvalbumin (PV), vasointestinal peptide (VIP), somatostatin (SST), nitric oxide synthase (NOS) take advantage endogenous perform active vasomotor control maintains homeostasis neuronal tissue. According this hypothesis, which call GAMER (GAmma MEdiated ciRcuit maintenance), act as ‘servicing’ rhythm enables efficient translation into vascular responses are optimal neurometabolic processes. an extension GENUS, rather than entrained plays fundamental role. Finally, several experiments test hypothesis.

Abstract Enhanced gamma activity (30-100Hz) coincides with the successful recall of episodic memories, but it remains unknown whether this oscillatory is a cause or consequence retrieval process. To address question, we asked human participants to complete paired associates memory task while undergoing sensory stimulation (at 65Hz, 43.3Hz and 32.5Hz). We observed that 65Hz 32.5Hz enhances compared baseline condition without stimulation. No similar effect was following Notably, almost all could perceive stimulation, only small proportion (∼10%) visual flicker, suggesting acts as an imperceptible intervention enhance recall. understand dual action on recall, built three pyramidal-interneuronal network (PING) models drove them using same protocols in behavioural task. The results be reproduced by stimulating endogenous ∼32Hz oscillation, not ∼65Hz oscillation nor oscillation. These suggest harmonically entraining ∼32.5Hz Based these findings, propose “slow” oscillations play causal role retrieval.

Abstract Considering that new ways of working are increasing in modern society, where people can choose their own workspace, workers must understand the most suitable environment for concentration. Personality is crucial determining a and focused each individual. However, few studies have investigated relationship between personality environment, which it easy to concentrate using objective methods. We explored whether differences exist easily, depending on personalities. measured concentration auditory steady-state response, brain response sound. For Big Five factors, we compared after presenting videos simulating both relaxed tense environments with scores. The results indicated negative correlation neuroticism scores environment. People lower concentrated more while those higher These findings not only assist employees choosing workspace but also may support educational settings such as schools universities.

Background: Visual stimulation at 40 Hz is being tested as a non-invasive approach against neurodegeneration and cognitive decline in Alzheimer's Disease (AD). Applying it during sleep could increase convenience take advantage of the role neurotoxic molecule clearance, one posited mechanism for beneficial effects stimulation. The feasibility, however, unclear. Methods: 30 healthy participants underwent control experimental night polysomnography laboratory. visual was delivered through custom mask wakefulness (W), NREM stages 2 3, REM sleep.Findings: As expected, EEG spectral power increased all four condition, compared to control. It highest W similar across 2, REM, with large medium effect sizes, respectively. Steady-State Visually Evoked Potential (SSVEP) analyses time domain Signal-to-Noise Ratios confirmed specificity effect. Secondary revealed that intervention did not impair objective subjective quality beyond "first effect".Interpretation: effectively neuronal gamma activity frequency without degrading sleep.
