Dendrobium officinale, a plant in the Orchidaceae family, has been used traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years. Sweet and slightly cold nature, it can invigorate stomach, promote fluid production, nourish Yin, dissipate heat. Over past decade, more than 60 compounds have derived from D. including flavonoids, bibenzyl, phenanthrene. Various studies explored underlying pharmacological mechanisms these compounds, which shown antitumor, hypoglycemic, hypertensive, gastrointestinal-regulatory, visceral organ protection, antiaging, neurorestorative effects. This paper presents systematic review structural classification, biological activity, different chemical components obtained officinale over decade. aims to provide reference future study establish foundation clinical applications. Background Podocyte injury is a common pathologic mechanism in diabetic kidney disease (DKD) and obesity-related glomerulopathy (ORG). Our previous study confirmed that Inonotus obliquus (IO) improved podocyte on DKD rats. The current explored the pharmacological effects, related mechanisms possible active components of IO ORG mice.
