Stress responses in real-world settings are less studied compared to controlled laboratory environments, limiting our understanding of their impact on cognitive performance. This study investigates the relationship between physiological stress signals and academic performance using an open-access dataset 10 students assessed across three exam sessions (Midterm 1, Midterm 2, Final Exam). Physiological measures, including electrodermal activity (EDA), heart rate (HR), skin surface temperature (TEMP), along with grades, were analyzed traditional hypothesis testing, bootstrap method, correlation analysis, regression tree modeling. To address small sample size, we validated test results both approaches compatible. Hypothesis testing revealed no significant differences measures sessions, supporting null hypothesis. Grades differed significantly final midterms (p < 0.05). fluctuations also periods (beginning, middle, end) for each exam, revealing temporal response variations. Correlation analysis showed a moderate negative EDA HR (r = - 0.504, p 0.01) weak positive TEMP 0.417, 0.05), intensifying during exam. Regression explained 78% variance grades (R2 0.78), modeling identifying lower (< 28 °C) higher (≥ 0.19) as predictors poorer These findings underscore interplay outcomes, emphasizing need further research interventions support student success.
