ABSTRACT Background One of the major challenges currently faced by global health systems is prolonged COVID-19 syndrome (also known as “long COVID”) which has emerged a consequence SARS-CoV-2 epidemic. The World Health Organization (WHO) recognized long COVID distinct clinical entity in 2021. It estimated that at least 30% patients who have had will develop COVID. This put tremendous strain on still-overstretched healthcare around world. Methods In this study, our goal was to assess plasma metabolome total 108 samples collected from healthy controls, patients, and recruited Mexico between 2020 2022. A targeted metabolomics approach using combination LC-MS/MS FIA MS/MS performed quantify metabolites. IL-17 leptin concentrations were measured immunoenzymatic assay. Results comparison paired COVID-19/post-COVID-19 revealed 53 metabolites statistically different (FDR < 0.05). Compared 29 remained dysregulated even after two years. Notably, glucose, kynurenine, certain acylcarnitines continued exhibit altered similar phase, while sphingomyelins saturated monounsaturated LysoPCs, phenylalanine, butyric acid, propionic acid levels normalized. Post-COVID-19 displayed heterogeneous metabolic profile, with some showing no symptoms others exhibiting variable number symptoms. Lactic lactate/pyruvate ratio, ornithine/citrulline sarcosine, arginine identified most relevant for distinguishing more complicated evolution. Additionally, significantly increased these patients. Conclusions Mitochondrial dysfunction, redox state imbalance, impaired energy metabolism, chronic immune dysregulation are likely be main hallmarks years acute infection.

Several studies suggest that children infected with SARS-CoV-2 have fewer clinical manifestations than adults; when they develop symptoms, rarely progress to severe disease. Different immunological theories been proposed explain this phenomenon. In September 2020, 16% of the active COVID-19 cases in Venezuela were under 19 years. We conducted a cross-sectional study pediatric patients' immune response and conditions infection. The patients admitted area emergency department Dr José Manuel de los Ríos Children's Hospital (2021-2022). lymphocyte subpopulations analysed by flow cytometry, IFNγ, IL-6 IL-10 serum concentrations quantified using commercial ELISA assays. analysis was on 72 aged one month 18 majority, 52.8%, had mild disease, 30.6 % diagnosed MIS-C. main symptoms reported fever, cough diarrhoea. A correlation found between age group; nutritional status steroid use; severity. results different depending should be considered for treating patients.

Abstract Introduction The aim of this study was to investigate how long hospitalized patients stayed positive the nasopharyngeal swab, and what demographic clinical factors influence time-to-negative swab. Methods We enrolled in a multicenter, observational, retrospective involving 17 COVID-19 units eight cities Campania, southern Italy all from March 2020 May 2021 diagnosed with Severe Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome-Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection for whom swab available. Results 963 were enrolled. defined three groups considering swab: first including before 26th day, second day 26 39, third > 39 days. 721 (74.9%) belonged group, 194 (20.1%) second, 52 (5.4%) group. Abstract Key issues for research of COVID-19 pathogenesis are the lack biopsies from patients and samples at onset infection. To overcome these hurdles, hamsters were shown to be useful models studying this disease. Here, we further leveraged model molecularly survey disease progression time-resolved single-cell RNA-sequencing data collected healthy SARS-CoV-2-infected Syrian Roborovski hamster lungs. We compared our human studies, including BALF, nasal swab, post-mortem lung tissue, identified a shared axis inflammation dominated by macrophages, neutrophils, endothelial cells, which show transient in terminal hamsters. Our suggest that, following SARS-CoV-2 infection, commitment type 1 or 3-biased immunity determines moderate versus severe outcomes, respectively. One-Sentence Summary Activation different immunological programs upon infection severity.

Currently, there are a large number of reports about the development autoimmune conditions after COVID-19. Also, have been cases sarcoid-like granulomas in convalescents as part post-COVID-19 syndrome. Since one etiological theories sarcoidosis considers it to be an disease, we decided study changes adaptive humoral immune response and SARS-CoV-2 infection find out whether COVID-19 can provoke sarcoidosis. This review discusses histological lymphoid organs COVID-19, B cell subpopulations, T-follicular helper cells (Tfh), regulatory (Tfr), analyzes various autoantibodies detected these pathologies. Based on data studied, concluded that may cause pathologies, particular contributing onset convalescents.

Background: Due to widespread vaccination efforts worldwide, the mortality rates linked COVID-19 have been decreasing. Nevertheless, there persists a notable level of morbidity, marked by increased occurrences post-COVID-19 conditions. This includes development new autoimmune and inflammatory diseases in individuals who recovered from COVID-19. A more severe progression has correlated with an probability newly diagnosed disease, among pre-existing conditions, risk developing another disease. Methods: Our patients’ medical records were analyzed retrospectively, including their history. Results: We present two cases primary immunodeficiency patients. One them experienced onset symptoms, while other had worsening her condition following infection. Conclusion: Recognizing potential connection between conditions is crucial for identifying symptoms promptly patients ensuring timely treatment. Further research required comprehensively grasp relationship autoimmunity this particular patient group. Statement novelty: In paper, we novel exploration into emergence manifestations subsequent infection, through analysis distinct case reports.
