The geoheritage housed in the historical collections of University Messina dates back to 1880s. These comprise a thousand specimens minerals, gemstones, ores, rocks, and macro- microfossils. Most them are provided scientific, didactic, cultural values consequently have be preserved enhanced for future generations. Their restoration cataloging necessary activities make this geoscientific naturalist heritage accessible scientists, students, tourists, citizens worldwide. present research reports description geological main at Messina, results methods carried out characterization materials uncertain classification or composition. optical observations stereomicroscope by Scanning Electron Microscopy-Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (SEM-EDS), tandem with µ-Raman analyses on geomaterials allowed ascertain authenticity suspect specimens, pointing that such methodologies provide useful fast approach properly discriminate between real fake geomaterials.

Geological heritage sites (geosites) have various properties such as accessibility, geometry, and vulnerability, well age. It is reasonable to distinguish the geological ages related content of geosites (e.g., Early Ordovician or Valanginian) from technical physical appearance (forms) Late Pleistocene, Prehistoric, 21st century). This study examines 17 known Western Caucasus–a geologically-rich area Greater Caucasus orogen. The revision update stratigraphical information allow establish their ages. are defined old (before 19th century), historical (19th–20th centuries), young (the beginning results show that analyzed shed light on lengthy time span (from late Proterozoic Quaternary), Cisuralian–Early Cretaceous sedimentary succession represented with significant completeness. Technically, chiefly old, although features also common. outcomes this do not only systematize knowledge Caucasus, but several practical implications (for instance, conservation technically priority, important arrange logically for educational touristic excursions).

It based scoring by several criteria reflecting quality quantity geological information. Attention paid to simplicity correctness information, mention technical properties (accessibility, location, safety), relative absolute amounts adaptation persons with disabilities. Textual graphical elements are considered differently. The tested in three cases, namely, Granite Gorge Western Caucasus, Pechischi Volga Region, Red Stones Southern Ciscaucasus.
