Microplastics are widespread contaminants leading to environmental exposure. While studies on the prevalence in human tissues have multiplied, little is known about their pharmacokinetics. Mechanisms of absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME) must be addressed before effects health (i.e. pharmacodynamics) can understood. Therefore, objective this review was provide an integrated assessment fate microplastics body by gathering information from multiple fields research (e.g. implants microspheres). Absorption mainly occurs through transcytosis enterocytes, while larger particles may internalized gaps persorption) or uptake phagocytes. Only <5 µm reach alveolar region, large found lungs usually result entrapment circulating narrow pulmonary capillary network. Overall, absorption rates expected low. then distributed circulatory system, accumulating respiratory digestive liver, spleen, brain. Metabolism lead biodegradation microplastics, enzymes reactive oxygen species macrophages, exposure physiologic fluids, microbiologic activity gut lumen. Finally, most will removed liver spleen excreted feces. work provides initial attempt at constructing a pharmacokinetics model for further required. Ideally, future works should conducted using histopathology techniques obtain precise location radiolabelled allow tracking time.

Terrestrial domestic animals are exposed to microplastics, therefore, contaminating the food chain, in case of livestock, or acting as sentinels for human exposure, companion animals. The aim this review was address importance terrestrial on exposure microplastics. Animal products may already show some microplastics contamination, which occur during their lifetime, possibly also compromising productivity, and processing, originating from equipment packaging. Moreover, release animal feces (or manure) leads contamination agricultural fields, with possible impacts internalization plants. Therefore, pose a threat security, safety, by being foreign material found products. Conversely, urban environments, (cats dogs) be relevant exposure. While oral vary pets compared humans, due indiscriminate ingestion chewing licking behaviors, airborne is likely good indicator future studies should both chain environmental

Non-communicable diseases (NCD) constitute one of the highest burdens disease globally and are associated with inflammatory responses in target organs. There is increasing evidence significant human exposure to micro- nanoplastics (MnPs). This review environmental MnP health impacts indicates that particles, directly indirectly through their leachates, may exacerbate inflammation. Meanwhile, persistent inflammation NCDs gastrointestinal respiratory systems potentially increases uptake, thus influencing access distal Consequently, a future increase augments risk severity NCDs. critical need for an integrated one-health approach research assessing drivers bidirectional links Assessing these risks requires interdisciplinary efforts identify link organismal uptake studies impacted mechanisms outcomes.

The present study aimed to quantify the concentration levels of potentially toxic elements (PTEs) such as aluminum, arsenic, cadmium, chromium, copper, nickel, lead, zinc, and mercury, well microplastics occurrence in various tissues fish seafood species, commercialized Lower Danube River Basin. A health risk assessment analysis was performed based on PTEs muscle tissue. Estimated daily intake (EDI), target hazard quotient (THQ), index (HI), cancer (TR) were calculated. It observed that species within category registered highest PTEs. For instance, tissue bivalve Mytilus galloprovincialis (from Black Sea), value case Zn (37.693 mg/kg), presence polystyrene polymer identified. values associated with EDI, THQ, HI, TR PTE exposure significantly lower than 1.
