The vascular endothelium is vital in maintaining cardiovascular health by regulating permeability and tone, preventing thrombosis, controlling inflammation. However, when oxidative stress triggers endothelial dysfunction, it can lead to chronic diseases (CVDs). This happens due stress-induced mitochondrial inflammatory responses, reduced levels of nitric oxide. These factors cause damage cells, leading the acceleration CVD progression. Melatonin, a natural antioxidant, has been shown inhibit stabilize function, providing protection. clinical application melatonin prevention treatment CVDs received widespread attention. In this review, based on bibliometric studies, we first discussed relationship between dysfunction CVDs, then summarized role atherosclerosis, hypertension, myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury, other CVDs. Finally, potential use these discussed.

Abstract Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) continue to exert a significant impact on global mortality rates, encompassing conditions like pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), atherosclerosis (AS), and myocardial infarction (MI). Oxidative stress (OS) plays crucial role in the pathogenesis advancement of CVDs, highlighting its significance as contributing factor. Maintaining an equilibrium between reactive oxygen species (ROS) antioxidant systems not only aids mitigating oxidative but also confers protective benefits cardiac health. Herbal monomers can inhibit OS CVDs by activating multiple signaling pathways, such increasing activity endogenous decreasing level ROS expression. Given actions herbal significantly protect normal function heart reduce damage caused organism. Hence, it is imperative recognize prospective therapeutic interventions for CVDs. This paper aims comprehensively review origins mechanisms underlying OS, elucidate intricate association explore potential treatment utilizing monomers. Furthermore, particular emphasis will be placed examining cardioprotective effects evaluating their pathways subsequent treatment. Graphical

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a prevalent condition affecting men’s sexual health, with oxidative stress (OS) having recently been identified as significant contributing causative factor. This narrative review aims to elucidate the role of OS in pathophysiology ED, focusing on impact, mechanisms, and potential therapeutic interventions. Key findings indicate that disrupts endothelial function nitric oxide (NO) signaling, crucial for erectile function. Various sources reactive oxygen species (ROS) their detrimental effects penile tissue are discussed, including aging, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, smoking, obesity, alcohol consumption, psychological stress, hyperhomocysteinemia, chronic kidney disease, sickle cell disease. Major ROS, such NADPH oxidase, xanthine uncoupled NO synthase (eNOS), mitochondrial electron transport, identified. scavenged by these leading characterized reduced availability, impaired vasodilation, increased vascular tone, inflammation. ultimately results ED due decreased blood flow inability achieve or maintain an erection. Furthermore, ROS impact transmission nitrergic neurotransmitters causing death neurons reducing signaling neuronal (nNOS), exacerbating ED. Therapeutic approaches targeting OS, antioxidants lifestyle modifications, show promise ameliorating symptoms. The underscores need further research develop effective treatments, emphasizing interplay between health Integrating pharmacological non-pharmacological strategies could enhance clinical outcomes patients, advocating management treatment protocols improve patient quality life.
