Objectives. Despite substantial healthcare spending in the United States, health outcomes for low socioeconomic status populations remain less than general population. This disparity is significantly influenced by social determinants of (SDOH), such as income, education, and environment. study delved into influence SDOH on life expectancy gap between two Florida counties, Collier (with high expectancy) Marion expectancy). Examining these contrasting counties aims to identify how contributed this disparity. Methods. comprehensive quantitative analysis considered three key areas: demographics, SDOH, internal external factors death longevity. Demographic data average were collected converted z scores. Linear regression was deployed understand relationship demographic variables. The scores from latest Health Charts (n.d.) used a linear determine each county influences years potential lost (YPLL). approach aimed reveal characteristics counties. Survey Results. revealed robust correlation causes (chronic diseases), which impact expectancy. explain portion variation YPLL both However, association requires further investigation. While positive existed, it lacks statistical significance, suggesting involvement other factors. These findings underscore importance addressing policies practices reduce gap. Conclusions. clear County has higher median diverse population, excellent working-age Conversely, County, with lower diversity, younger more children, risk chronic diseases highlighted understanding variations emphasized need targeted interventions address improve across communities.

Aging is a complex biological process involving multiple interacting mechanisms and being increasingly linked to environmental exposures such as wildfire smoke. In this review, we detail the hallmarks of aging, emphasizing role telomere attrition, cellular senescence, epigenetic alterations, proteostasis, genomic instability, mitochondrial dysfunction, while also exploring integrative - altered intercellular communication stem cell exhaustion. Within each hallmark our review explores how disasters like wildfires, their resultant inhaled toxicants, interact with these aging mechanisms. The intersection between exposures, especially high-concentration insults from remains under-studied. Preliminary evidence, group others, suggests that smoke can accelerate markers neurological reduce learning capabilities. This likely mediated by augmentation circulatory factors compromise vascular blood-brain barrier integrity, induce chronic neuroinflammation, promote age-associated proteinopathy-related outcomes. Moreover, may reduced metabolic, senescent phenotype. Future interventions could potentially leverage combined anti-inflammatory NAD + boosting compounds counter effects. underscores critical need study intricate interplay pave way for effective interventions.

Ageing (as known as eldering, senescence) is a genetically and epigenetically programmed pathophysiological process. Velocity of biological ageing defined balance between alteration reparation body structures. According to last World Health Organization (WHO) highlights still stays an extremely actual scientific, social demographic problem: in 2020 total number people older than 60 years was 1 billion people; 2030 future may be 1,4 people, 2050 — 2,1 people. Absence single universal theory aging nowadays reason for scientifical clinical collaboration biologists doctors, including endocrinologists. Designing potentially effective newest anti-ageing strategies (such natural/synthetic telomerase regulators, mesenchymal stem cells etc.) interest scientific community. The aim present article review modern omics (genomic, proteomic, metabolomic) mechanisms, potential ways targeted prevention treatment age-related disease according conception personalized medicine. Abstract Genetic factors play a significant role in determining an individual’s longevity. The present study was aimed at identifying genetic variants associated with longevity Indian population. Long living individuals (LLIs), aged 85+, were compared younger controls, 18-49 years, using data from GenomegaDB, database of Indians India. An in-house developed custom chip, having various cancers, cardiovascular, neurological, gastro-intestinal, metabolic and auto-immune disorders, used to generate genotype data. Logistic regression analysis sex top three principal components as covariates resulted 9 be significantly p -value threshold 5 × 10 −4 . Alleles slower heart rate (rs365990, MYH6), decreased risk osteoporosis short body height (rs2982570, ESR1), schizophrenia (rs1339227, RIMS1-KCNQ5) anxiety neuroticism (rs391957, HSPA5) found have higher frequency LLIs. increased atrial fibrillation (rs3903239, GORAB-PRRX1) biliary disorders (rs2002042, ABCC2) lower frequency. G allele rs2802292 FOXO3A gene, Japanese, German French centenarians, also this population ( P = 0.032). Pathway enrichment revealed that the genes involved oxidative stress, apoptosis, DNA damage repair, glucose metabolism energy affecting Results our demonstrate basis healthy aging

We are imminently faced with the challenges of an increasingly aging population and longer lifespans due to improved health care. Concomitantly, we ubiquitous environmental pollution linked various effects age-related diseases which contribute increased morbidity age. Geriatric populations rarely considered in development regulations or toxicology research. Today, life expectancy is often into one’s 80s beyond, means multiple decades living as a geriatric individual. Hence, adverse late-onset might be exposures geriatric, currently have no way knowing. Considering from different perspective, term “gerontogen” was coined 1987 describe chemicals that accelerate biological but has largely been left out Thus, challenged two-faced problem can “toxic coin”; on one side consider how age affects toxic outcome chemicals, whereas other (i.e. act gerontogens). Conveniently, both sides this coin tackled single animal study considers groups assesses basic chemical(s) tested aging-focused endpoints. Here, I introduce concept some key considerations for it applies My discussion will focus brain, my area expertise, could translated any organ system.

An accelerated cellular ageing has been observed in bipolar disorder (BD) using biomarkers such as telomere length (TL) and mitochondrial DNA copy number (mtDNAcn). Several risk factors might drive premature individuals with BD, including a familial predisposition. This study compared TL mtDNAcn between BD their (un)-affected siblings, explored that may explain proband-sibling differences. Sixty seventy-four siblings (34 affected or mood disorders 40 unaffected) were included. Quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) was used to measure from peripheral blood genomic DNA. did not significantly differ probands whatever these latter disorders. However, the correlation plots of pairs suggested some discordant. The within differences for explained by all tested factors. shows are concordant suggesting they share environmental genetic determinants two ageing.

The main objective of this study is to determine the association various trace elements’ status with 5-year mortality rate among community-dwelling older adults in Malaysia. This was part Long-term Research Grant Scheme—Towards Useful Ageing (LRGS-TUA). participants were followed up for five years, and their identified through Mortality Data Matching Service provided by National Registration Department, Of 303 included study, 34 (11.2%) had died within years after baseline data collection. As compared survivors, who earlier more likely (p < 0.05) be men, smokers, have a lower intake total dietary fiber molybdenum, higher manganese, zinc levels toenail samples, calcium lead hair samples during baseline. Following multivariate Cox proportional hazard analysis, (HR: 0.681; 0.532–0.871), 0.999; 95% CI: 0.999–1.000) 1.309; 1.061–1.616) appeared as predictors mortality. In conclusion, are associated risk Our current findings provide better understanding how may affect populations’ well-being rate.
