Wood is an abundant and renewable feedstock for the production of pulp, fuels, biobased materials. However, wood recalcitrant toward deconstruction into cellulose simple sugars, mainly because presence lignin, aromatic polymer that shields cell-wall polysaccharides. Hence, numerous research efforts have focused on engineering lignin amount composition to improve processability. Here, we focus results been obtained by biosynthesis branching pathways in forest trees reduce recalcitrance, including introduction exotic monomers. In addition, draw general conclusions from over 20 years field trial with engineered produce less or altered lignin. We discuss possible causes solutions yield penalty often associated trees. Finally, how conventional new breeding strategies can be combined develop elite clones desired properties. conclude this review priorities development commercially relevant lignin-engineered

Browning and contamination are regarded as the main constraints in plant tissue culture of Musa spp. that can hinder success propagation vitro. is caused by enzymatic reactions due to explant injury, while microbial phyllospheric, rhizospheric, endophytic microorganisms reside on, in, inside plants. When not properly addressed, they cause decreased regenerative ability, callus growth, inhibited adventitious shoot even death. To overcome browning problem, various attempts have been made vitro, e.g., immersing explants an anti-browning solution, incorporating compounds into medium, manipulating cultural practices. Correspondingly, control problem contamination, efforts made, for example, using methods, such thermotherapy, chemotherapy, cryotherapy, chemical agents, disinfectants, antiseptics, nanoparticles. This review aims investigate provide a comprehensive understanding causes well many approaches used problems cultures.

The TEOSINTE BRANCHED1 (TBI1), CYCLOIDEA (CYC), and PROLIFERATING CELL NUCLEAR ANTIGEN FACTORS (PCF1 PCF2) proteins truncated as TCP transcription factors carry conserved basic-helix-loop-helix (bHLH) structure, related to DNA binding functions. Evolutionary history of the genes has shown their presence in early land plants. In this paper, we performed a comparative discussion on current knowledge Transcription Factors lower higher plants: evolutionary based phylogenetics 849 from 37 plant species, duplication events, biochemical roles some plants species. Phylogenetics investigations confirmed classification TFs into Class I (the PCF1/2), II C- clade) factors; were further divided CIN- CYC/TB1- subclade. A trace evolution revealed an absence CYC/TB1subclade plants, independent both eudicot monocot 54% total events analyzed biased towards dispersed duplication, concluded that contributed expansion gene family. Analysis functional involvement various processes which mainly included promoting cell proliferation leaves TCPs, division during development Factors. Apart growth development, also regulate hormonal stress response pathways. Although paper does not exhaust present Factors, it provides base for exploration

Climate change is deeply impacting the food chain production, lowering quality and yield. In this context, international scientific community has dedicated many efforts to enhancing resilience sustainability in agriculture. Italy among main European producers of several fruit trees; therefore, national research centers universities undertook initiatives maintain specificity ‘Made Italy’ label. Despite their importance, crops are suffering from difficulties associated with conventional breeding approaches, especially terms financial commitment, land resources availability, long generation times. The ‘new genomic techniques’ (NGTs), renamed as ‘technologies for assisted evolution’ (TEAs), reduce time required obtain genetically improved cultivars while precisely targeting specific DNA sequences. This review aims illustrate role Italian use NGTs, a focus on Citrus, grapevine, apple, pear, chestnut, strawberry, peach, kiwifruit. For each crop, key genes traits which working, well technological improvements advancements regeneration local varieties, presented. Lastly, placed legal aspects contexts.

Acer fabri is an excellent color-leaf tree species, with high ornamental value. Low temperatures are known to limit the growth and geographical distribution of A. fabri. The molecular mechanism in response low-temperature stress was rarely reported. To understand stress, relevant physiological changes were identified transcriptome sequencing conducted under different durations. results showed that proline, soluble sugar (SS) protein (SP) content increased leaves while peroxidase (POD) activating superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity first then decreased. It also found by OPLS-DA analysis SOD most important indicator stress. By sequencing, a total 56,732 genes identified, including 832 transcription factors (TFs). Differentially expressed (DEGs) significantly enriched metabolic pathways, phytohormone signaling, plant mitogen-activated kinase (MAPK) signaling pathways. Moreover, gene co-expression networks, specifically weighted network (WGCNA), indicates Af0048792 Af0026061 could be significant from low temperatures. Furthermore, it observed NAC (Af0033429) MIKC (Af0004917) might have interactions Af0048792, may additionally interact Af0026061. These findings enhance our understanding mechanisms
