Fungal exopolysaccharides (EPSs) represent an important group of bioactive compounds secreted by fungi. These biopolymers can be utilized individually or in combination with different substances for a broad range pharmaceutical field applications, due to their various biological activities, such as antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, anti-diabetic, and anticoagulant effects. The paper presents up-to-date review the main fungal polysaccharides (pullulan, schizophyllan, scleroglucan, botryosphaeran, lentinan, grifolan, lasiodiplodan), highlighting structures, producing strains, useful properties double position, controlled release (rate selectively targeting) drug carriers, but mostly active immunomodulating antitumor cancer therapy.

Background Mushrooms exist as an integral and vital component of the ecosystem are very precious fungi. have been traditionally used in herbal medicines for many centuries. Scope Approach There a variety medicinal mushrooms mentioned current work such Agaricus, Amanita, Calocybe, Cantharellus, Cordyceps, Coprinus, Cortinarius, Ganoderma, Grifola, Huitlacoche, Hydnum, Lentinus, Morchella, Pleurotus, Rigidoporus, Tremella, Trametes sp., etc., which play role various diseases because several metabolic components nutritional values. Medicinal can be identified morphologically on basis their size, color (white, black, yellow, brown, cream, pink purple-brown, etc.), chemical reactions, consistency stalk cap, mode attachment gills to stalk, spore mass, further at molecular level by Internal Transcribed Spacer (ITS) regions gene sequencing. also other methods that recently begun identification high-pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC), nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR), microscopy, thin-layer (TLC), DNA sequencing, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), finger printing, ultra-performance (UPLC), fourier transform infrared (FTIR), quadrupole time-of-flight mass (LCMS-TOF) high-performance (HPTLC). Lately, matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time flight (MALDI-TOF MS) technique is Key Finding Conclusion possess biological activities like anti-oxidant, anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, anti-tumor, anti-viral, anti-parasitic, anti-microbial, hepatoprotective, anti-HIV, anti-diabetic, others will this article. This manuscript provide future direction, action mechanisms, applications, recent collective information mushrooms. In addition unknown metabolites patented active included.

Fungi are extremely diverse in terms of morphology, ecology, metabolism, and phylogeny. Approximately, 130 medicinal activities like antitumor, immunomodulation, antioxidant, radical scavenging, cardioprotective antiviral actions assumed to be produced by the various varieties mushrooms. The polysaccharides, present mushrooms β-glucans, micronutrients, antioxidants glycoproteins, triterpenoids, flavonoids, ergosterols can help establish natural resistance against infections toxins.. Clinical trials have been performed on Agaricus blazei Murrill Kyowa for their anticancer effect , A. its antihypertensive effects, some other had also evaluated neurological effects. human evaluation dose studies toxicity was from literature number All were found safe at a 2000 mg/kg but with mild side safety therapeutic effectiveness fungal shifted interest biotechnologists toward nanobiotechnology as drug delivery system due vast advantages nanotechnology systems. In complement vital nutritional significance mushrooms, numerous species identified sources bioactive chemicals. Moreover, there unanswered queries regarding safety, efficacy, critical issues that affect future mushroom medicine development, could jeopardize usage twenty-first century.
