Asparagopsis taxiformis is a significant source of phenolics. Owing to the incessant demand green extraction procedures for phenolics from A. taxiformis, ultrasound-assisted (UAE) using deep eutectic solvents (DESs) was optimized. Among tested DESs, betaine-levulinic acid afforded highest total phenolic content (TPC). Moreover, optimal conditions elucidated single-factor and response surface methodologies comprised 52.41°C ultrasonic temperature, 46.48% water DES, 26.99 ml/g liquid-to-solid ratio. The corresponding TPC (56.27 mg GAE/100 g DW) antioxidant ability fitted predicted values. UAE superior abilities with DESs than traditional solvents. Using UHPLC-MS, seven acids, 18 flavonoids, two bromophenols were identified quantified. DES-UAE compound number (26) sum contents. Macroalgae, or seaweeds, are a rich source of components which may exert beneficial effects on the mammalian gut microbiota through enhancement bacterial diversity and abundance. An imbalance bacteria has been linked to development disorders such as inflammatory bowel disease, immunodeficiency, hypertension, type-2-diabetes, obesity, cancer. This review outlines current knowledge from in vitro vivo studies concerning potential therapeutic application seaweed-derived polysaccharides, polyphenols peptides modulate diet. Polysaccharides fucoidan, laminarin, alginate, ulvan porphyran unique seaweeds. Several have shown their act prebiotics positively microbiota. Since the middle of last century, marine organisms have been identified as producers chemically and biologically diverse secondary metabolites which exerted various biological activities including anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antimicrobial, antifouling others. This review primarily focuses on phenolic compounds their derivatives with potent anticancer activity, isolated and/or modified in decade.
