Fertilizer application is a common agricultural practice that enhances soil fertility but can also increase heavy metal mobility in contaminated soils. This study used pot experiment with four vegetables (water spinach, Chinese cabbage, lettuce, and garland chrysanthemum) to evaluate the impact of BC, ZE, their combination (CO) on Cd Pb levels under different fertilization schemes. Results showed CO treatment significantly enhanced enzyme activities, increasing urease by 2.6–31.6% catalase 1.37–14.24% varying fertilizer conditions. However, sucrase activity increased only compound fertilizers. The use fertilizers alone raised vegetable shoots 0.65 mg·kg⁻¹ 12.76 mg·kg⁻¹, respectively, while amendment effectively mitigated these increases. BCR sequential extraction indicated BC shifted into more stable fractions, reducing bioavailability. Specifically, reduced accumulation 24.8–49.7%, showing particular efficacy levels. These findings highlight particularly combination, offer an effective strategy for remediating metal-contaminated soils systems, especially when chemical are used.

Background: Exposure to environmental pollutants such as metals and Per- Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) has become common increasingly associated with a decrease in the estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate (eGFR), which is marker often used measure chronic kidney disease (CKD). However, there are limited studies involving use of both eGFR urine albumin creatinine ratio (uACR), more comprehensive markers determine presence CKD complexity pollutant exposures response interactions, especially for combined PFAS, not been comprehensively elucidated. Objective: This study aims assess individual effects perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), perfluorooctanesulfonic (PFOS), Cadmium (Cd), Mercury (Hg), Lead (Pb) exposure on using data from National Health Nutritional Examination Survey (NHANES) 2017–2018. Methods: We employed bivariate logistic regression Bayesian Kernel Machine Regression (BKMR) our analysis data. Results: Logistic results revealed positive association between PFOA CKD. Our BKMR non-linear bi-phasic relationship metal In univariate exposure–response function plot, Cd Hg exhibited U N-shaped interaction, indicated non-additive low high addition, two mixture that had U-shaped at different quantiles Pb, Hg, PFOA, PFOS, indicating levels CKD, implying complex biological interaction. Hg’s interaction plot demonstrated across all Cd, 75th quantile Pb 50th PFOS. Furthermore, PIP underscored Cd’s consistent (PIP = 1.000) followed by 0.9984), then PFOS closely related 0.7880 0.7604, respectively, finally 0.6940), contributing least among five though significant. Conclusions: findings pollutants, particularly These highlight need public health interventions strategies mitigate cumulative effect PFAS elucidate significance utilizing advanced statistical methods tools understand impact human health. Further research needed mechanistic pathways metal-induced injury longitudinal required ascertain long-term these exposures.

Heavy metal contamination has gradually become a very much important significant global issue due to its continual existence in the environment and bioaccumulation ecosystems, posing deleterious risks human health. This review aims investigate sources, pathways, toxicological impacts of heavy metals such as cadmium, lead, mercury, arsenic, elucidating their health consequences plausible mitigation strategies. Furthermore, explores dual origins contamination; natural geological processes anthropogenic activities industrial emissions, mining, agricultural practices. These sip into soil, water, food chains, leading bioaccumulation, bio-magnification causing risks, including cardiovascular diseases, neurological disorders, reproductive toxicity. Additionally, addition indigenous case studies from Nigeria, lead poisoning Zamfara State Great Kwa River Cross Rivers underscores disproportionate impact pollution developing nations. reveal socio-economic environmental dimensions issue, providing contextual understanding region-specific vulnerabilities outcomes. To address these problems, evaluates already existing strategies, chelation therapy phytoremediation, while proposing sustainable, cost-effective solutions for reducing exposure mitigating impacts. It emphasizes importance integrative approaches involving policy, community engagement, technological innovations fight effectively. In conclusion, this seminar contributes toxicity, giving showcasing insights sources implications contamination. By integrating theoretical perspectives with practical solutions, provides robust framework informing policy makers advancing sustainable management practices.

Assessment of indoor air quality is especially important, since people spend substantial amounts time indoors, either at home or work. This study analyzes concentrations selected heavy metals in 40 dust samples obtained from houses the highly-industrialized Asaluyeh city, south Iran spring and summer seasons (20 each). Furthermore, health risk due to exposure pollution investigated for both children adults, a city with several oil refineries petrochemical industries. The chemical analysis revealed that followed order Cr > Ni Pb As Co Cd. A significant difference was observed potential toxic elements (PTEs) such as Cr, Ni, mean (±stdev) levels were 60.2 ± 9.1 mg kg−1, 5.6 2.7 kg−1 16.4 1.9 respectively, while significantly lower (17.6 9.7 3.0 1.7 13.5 2.4 respectively). Although hazard index (HI) values, which denote possibility non-carcinogenic household metals, generally low adults (HI < 1), carcinogenic risks arsenic chromium found be above safe limit 1 × 10−4 through ingestion pathway, indicating high cancer Asaluyeh, summer.

Dietary assessment reports and population surveillance programs show that chronic exposure to low levels of environmental cadmium (Cd) is inevitable for most people, adversely impacts the health children adults. Based on a risk model considers an increase in excretion β2-microglobulin (β2M) above 300 μg/g creatinine be “critical” toxicity endpoint, tolerable intake level Cd was set at 0.83 µg/kg body weight/day, urinary rate 5.24 µg/g considered threshold level. The aim this review draw attention many other endpoints are both clinically relevant more appropriate derive limits than β2M endpoint. In present review, we focus reduction glomerular filtration diminished fecundity because low-dose Cd, reflected by its as 0.5 creatinine, have been associated with dose-dependent increases these pathological symptoms. Some protective effects nutritionally essential elements selenium zinc highlighted. Cd-induced mitochondrial dysfunction discussed potential mechanism underlying gonadal toxicities infertility.

Abstract Cadmium (Cd) is a ubiquitous heavy metal toxicant with no biological function in the human body. Considerably, because of its long half‐life and very low excretion rate, Cd inclined to accumulate cause deleterious effects on various body organs (e.g., liver, kidney, ovary) humans animals. Ovaries are most vulnerable targets toxicity. has been shown induce oxidative stress, follicular atresia, hormonal imbalance, impairment oocyte growth development. Moreover, toxicity associated increasing incidences menstrual disorders, pregnancy loss, preterm births, delayed puberty, female infertility. Therefore, it crucial understand how poisoning impacts specific ovarian processes for development preventive interventions enhance fertility. The current review attempts collate recent findings Cd‐induced apoptosis, steroid synthesis inhibition, teratogenic toxicity, along their possible mechanisms tissue different animal species. Additionally, also summarizes studies related use many antioxidants, medicinal herbs, other compounds as remedial approaches managing
