Development in hemoglobin-based oxygen carriers (HBOCs) that may be used as alternatives to donated blood requires an extensive supply of highly pure hemoglobin (Hb) preparations. Therefore, it is essential fabricate inexpensive, stable and selective absorbents for Hb purification. Molecular imprinting attractive technology preparing such materials targeted molecular recognition rapid separations. In this case study, we developed human fetal (HbF)-imprinted polymer beads through the fusion surface Pickering emulsion polymerization. HbF was firstly covalently coupled silica nanoparticles its surface-exposed amino groups. The particle-supported molecules were subsequently employed templates synthesis molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) with high selectivity Hb. After removing support HbF, resulting MIPs underwent equilibrium kinetic binding experiments both adult (HbA) HbF. These surface-imprinted exhibited excellent HbA facilitating one-step isolation recombinant from crude biological samples. saturation capacities found 15.4 17.1 mg/g polymer, respectively. present study opens new possibilities designed resins tailored protein purification, separation analysis.
