Abstract Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a persistent inflammatory condition that specifically targets the colon and rectum. Existing therapies fail to adequately address clinical requirements of people suffering from this ailment. Despite acknowledged potential nanomedicines in field anti-inflammatory treatment, their widespread use settings impeded by expensive nature uncertainty surrounding safety profiles. This study illustrates two naturally occurring phytochemicals, Costunolide (COS) Glycyrrhizic acid (GA), form carrier-free, multifunctional spherical nanoparticles (NPs) through noncovalent interactions, such as π–π stacking hydrogen bonding. The COS-GA NPs displayed synergistic effect, providing much more evidently improved therapeutic benefits for dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)-induced UC mice due effective reduction inflammation oxidative stress than did equal dosages COS or GA used alone. In addition, have biocompatibility biosafety properties unique them. will serve affirmation innovative natural antioxidant activities also agents drug discovery UC, leading possibly better outcomes living with disabling condition.

Nanodrugs offer a means of delivering drugs that can enhance their bioavailability. However, the practical application nanomedicines is hindered by use carrier materials in construction, which make them potentially toxic. Carrier-free nanomaterials are currently receiving significant attention due to simple composition, high drug loading capacity, and low toxicity, making widely used medical applications. This paper outlines self-assembly mechanism carrierless nanomaterials, details applications antitumour, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory antioxidant applications, finally briefly discusses development nanomaterials.
