Abstract The increasing demand for sustainable and eco-friendly technologies has recently led to the development of green bio-based synthesis methods a broad range nanoparticles (NPs). This is because these are non-toxic, biocompatible, cost-effective. Photosensitive (PSNPs) have gained popularity due their photo-responsive properties. PSNPs also been found be promising nanomaterials with applications in optoelectronics, photocatalysis, photovoltaics, bioimaging, drug delivery, cancer treatment. However, conventional raise concerns about environmental impact. To address challenges, researchers explored alternative approaches PSNPs. review comprehensively evaluates advantages limitations highlights unique properties various fields. It covers general concepts PSNPs, mechanism action, characterization techniques, challenges that not discussed detail previous studies. Semiconductor photocatalytic technology demonstrates strong potential as a solution to defend environmental systems while converting energy. The behavior of traditional ZrO2 catalysts suffers major disadvantage because their activity remains low in visible light applications. XRD together with SEM, well EDX and EIS techniques, were utilized evaluate the synthetic materials. This study demonstrated that development RGO-modified heterostructures delivered substantial increases functionality through effective photogenerated charge separation mechanisms. Tests showed RGO/ZrO2 exhibited outstanding led an 80% MB breakdown 120 min exceeding electrocatalytic parameters multiple tests. experimental data from UV–vis spectroscopy combined electrochemical analysis radical trapping methods heterostructure improvement resulted higher absorption rates active site exposure providing better electron/hole pair separation. research establishes S-scheme enable advancements protection alongside energy conversion technologies.
