Abstract A new approach for the formation of binary and ternary mixed metal oxides, namely, CoNb 2 O 6 , NiNb Co 0.5 Ni Nb through a modified single‐source molecular precursor route was investigated. By optimizing annealing temperature, heating/cooling rates holding times, phase compositions thermal processing mixtures oxalate‐based complexes [M(bpy) 3 ] [NbO(C 4 ) ]Cl· n H (M = 2+ ( 1 or/and ); 11, 12) (NH ]·3H were evaluated.
