The terrestrial green alga Chromochloris zofingiensis is an emerging model species with potential applications including production of triacylglycerol or astaxanthin. How C. interacts the diverse substrates during trophic transitions unknown. To characterize its substrate utilization and secretion dynamics, we cultivated in a soil-based defined medium transition between conditions without glucose supplementation. Then, examined exometabolite endometabolite profiles. This analysis revealed that regardless modes, preferentially uptakes exogenous lysine, arginine, purines, while secreting orotic acid. Here, obtained metabolomic evidences may use arginine for putrescine synthesis when to heterotrophy, TCA cycle photoautotrophy. We also report fructose most effectively inhibited photosynthesis among thirteen different sugars. utilized secreted metabolites identified this study provide important information improve cultivation, expand industrial pharmaceutical applications.

Microalgal emergence is a promising platform with two-decade historical background for producing vaccines and biopharmaceuticals. During that period, microalgal-based have reported successful production various diseases. Thus, species selection important genetic transformation delivery methods been developed. Although many vaccine prototypes produced infectious non-infectious diseases, fewer studies reached immunological immunoprotective evaluations. Microalgae-made Staphylococcus aureus, malaria, influenza, human papilloma, Zika viruses explored in their capacity to induce humoral or cellular immune responses protective efficacies against experimental challenges. Therefore, specific pathogen antigens system role are addressed controlling these infections. Regarding non-communicable investigated breast cancer; microalgal-produced therapeutic molecules microalgal-made interferon-α hypertension potential applications treating viral infections cancer, respectively. conducting trials emphasized, discussing the results observed terms of immunogenicity, desired response affections, challenges achieving protection levels. The advantages hurdles associated this innovative approach highlighted, underlining relevance assessing preclinical clinical validate efficacy future healthcare technology also envisaged.
