Over the last decade, various governments and supranational bodies have promoted development of a circular bioeconomy (CBE) as response to sustainability challenges. The transition towards CBE requires collaboration different actors in innovation (eco)system. With this conceptual paper, we apply business model lens address research question: “What are archetypical roles consumers innovations for sustainable CBE?” We use combination complementary theories from economy literature, evolutionary economics, transitions research, work on active consumers. Considering consumers’ agency continuum between manufacturer-active paradigm consumer-active paradigm, propose: (i) can actively influence models with their purchase decision; (ii) act lobbyists influencers innovation; (iii) customer, user, repairer, reseller, incentivize organizations adapt needs; (iv) become key partners process defining normative orientation CBE; (v) co-create value by means co-ownership (e.g., through platform cooperatives).

Environmental management systems have often been adopted to tackle environmental challenges, but, more recently, scholars proposed dynamic capabilities as strategy foster economy initiatives. Considering level of internalisation system, we investigated contribution organisation performance and implementation. Using partial least squares structural equation modelling, analysed than 800 European organisations registered with Eco‐Management Audit Scheme. Our results proved that contribute which consequently improves overall adoption. In addition, while directly influence an organisation, EMAS is crucial for better economic reputation. Lastly, assessed sensing, seizing reconfiguring standard proving their role integration standard's requirements. study highlights scarce linkages between Scheme by suggesting how can identify pursue opportunities through capabilities.

Abstract Circular economy principles are usually dissociated from strategic planning practices, and there seems to be no guidance on how decide competitive strategies establish circular business models. Therefore, this article aimed propose a decision framework oriented models (SPDF‐CBM) test it by conducting case study of Brazilian company the cosmetic sector. Based number tools assist going through Stages A, B, C, businesses get know their status define desired future state. In D E, spot (and strategies) they can pursue. After testing proposed in startup sector, results suggested that pursues based differentiation CBM at promoting renewable options. It was also pointed out other CBMs decreasing degree fit with were maximizing material energy efficiency, extending resource value product life, pursuing sufficiency, delivering functionality rather than ownership. By using framework, organizations increase both competitiveness circularity same time.
