Textile and clothing (T&C) production consumption have been steadily increasing for many years, accompanied by significant resource consumption, waste generation, environmental impact. Germany holds a pivotal position in the industry, both within EU globally, as leading producer, importer, exporter of T&C. The circular economy (CE) concept has emerged promising solution to address industry’s negative impacts emphasising reduction, reuse, recycling resources across value chain. Digital technologies (DTs) are increasingly recognised key enablers facilitators this transition, promoting efficiency circularity manufacturing processes. However, extent which these implemented German T&C industry remains largely underexplored. This study seeks investigate role DTs advancing CE practices manufacturing. Employing process mapping technology profiling, research adopts an inductive, qualitative approach based on primary interview data explore three areas: (1) current practices, (2) deployment supportive DTs, (3) challenges implementing DTs. findings reveal that adoption is set accelerate among manufacturers, driven regulatory compliance market pressures, with playing critical enabling transition. proposes new operational framework designed facilitate shift towards more textile sector, aligning ambitious goals European Union broader societal objectives.

ABSTRACT As industrial sustainability concerns mount, manufacturers engaged in digital servitization grapple with the twin transition of configuring and implementing solutions to meet their customers' objectives. To address this challenge, a socio‐technical systems theory‐based framework is proposed. Drawing on case studies three undertaking sustainability, servitization, theory research, our highlights key processes navigating transition. It emphasizes importance contextual factors defining customer twin‐transition roadmap, outlines steps reconfiguring technical social subsystems, stresses joint optimization based feedback metrics. This systematic approach guides supporting customers through transition, emphasizing iterative for sustained success. Our findings contribute growing research by conceptualizing underlying offering practical insights.

ABSTRACT Although digitalization and circularity are two major topics today, studies on their relations also effects firm outcomes still scarce. In this regard, revealing the impact of digital capabilities circular economy practices how they relate to performance advances related literature. Moreover, there is no study in literature strengthen relationship between practices. Accordingly, research investigates with moderating effect technology‐environmental business strategy alignment. Furthermore, impacts environmental economic examined. Based survey data from 204 manufacturing firms, reveals that practices, alignment strengthens relationship.
