Non-invasive vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) represents a transformative approach for managing broad spectrum of inflammatory and autoimmune conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis bowel disease. This comprehensive review delineates the mechanisms underlying VNS, emphasizing cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway, explores interactions within neuro-immune vagus-gut axes based on both clinical outcomes pre-clinical models. Clinical applications have confirmed efficacy VNS in specific diseases, such as arthritis, chronic conditions like disease, showcasing variability parameters patient responses. Concurrently, studies provided insights into potential modulating cardiovascular broader responses, paving way its translational application settings. Innovations non-invasive technology precision neuromodulation are enhancing therapeutic potential, making it viable option patients who unresponsive to conventional treatments. Nonetheless, widespread adoption this promising therapy is impeded by regulatory challenges, compliance issues, need extensive long-term safety. Future research directions will focus refining technology, optimizing treatment parameters, exploring synergistic effects with other modalities, which could revolutionize management disorders.

Patients with cancer are often polysymptomatic due to significant disease and treatment-related morbidity. Vagus nerve stimulation (VNS), a type of neuromodulation, affects various physiological processes that highly relevant many cancer-related symptoms. It is an emerging therapy uses the omnipotent nature known ameliorate conditions such as depression, epilepsy, gastrointestinal disorders migraine. Given evidence base for VNS its proven utilisation outside cancer, we suggest research clinical application this treatment modality in supportive oncology.

Cancer is globally a disease of significant public health concern owing to its prevalence, and association with morbidity mortality. Thus, cost-effective treatments for cancer are important help reduce However, the current therapeutic options such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery may produce serious adverse events nausea, vomiting, fatigue, peripheral neuropathy, especially in long term. In addition, these not be well tolerated by elderly those who frail. The article aimed at discussing an alternative option, non-invasive vagus nerve stimulation (VNS), roles it plays pathology immunotherapy. VNS does this reducing oxidative stress via silent information regulator 1 (SIRT1); inhibiting inflammation both hypothalamic-pituitary-axis (HPA) release corticosteroid from adrenal gland, cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway (CAP), increasing vagal activity which helps regulation cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, metabolism, increase chance survival. Furthermore, complications due or postoperative ileus severity neuropathy induced improves cancer-related lymphopenia, quality life. These suggest that importance immunotherapy cannot overemphasized. Therefore, considering safety cost-effectiveness, option worth trying patients, combination other therapies.

ObjectiveThis study aims to investigate the effects of transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation (taVNS) on development systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in MRL/lpr mice.MethodsMRL/lpr mice were treated with taVNS for ten weeks. Locus coeruleus (LC) tyrosine hydroxylase positive (TH+) neurons selectively lesioned by stereotactic injection 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA) or activated chemogenetic methods. Sympathetic denervation was conducted intraperitoneal 6-OHDA.ResultsTaVNS TH + LC. TaVNS produced central therapeutic reducing number hippocampal microglia, and increasing surviving LC TH+ mice. also retarded lymphadenectasis splenomegaly, decreased proportion double-negative T (DNT) cells, alleviated nephritis The lesion eliminated both these peripheral taVNS, while activation mimicked most protective Furthermore, regulated autonomic nervous system mice.ConclusionThis provides direct evidence that can retard symptoms SLE, which is mediated neurons.

Such crosstalk cells evident in both peripheral central systems. Recent advances have uncovered numerous direct neuron-cancer interactions at glioma-neuronal synapses, paracrine mechanisms within tumor microenvironment, indirect neuroimmune interactions.
