VNS does this reducing oxidative stress via silent information regulator 1 (SIRT1); inhibiting inflammation both hypothalamic-pituitary-axis (HPA) release corticosteroid from adrenal gland, cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway (CAP), increasing vagal activity which helps regulation cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, metabolism, increase chance survival. ObjectiveThis study aims to investigate the effects of transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation (taVNS) on development systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in MRL/lpr mice.MethodsMRL/lpr mice were treated with taVNS for ten weeks. Locus coeruleus (LC) tyrosine hydroxylase positive (TH+) neurons selectively lesioned by stereotactic injection 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA) or activated chemogenetic methods. Sympathetic denervation was conducted intraperitoneal 6-OHDA.ResultsTaVNS TH + LC.
