Sarcopenia is a prevalent and clinically significant condition, particularly among older age groups those with chronic disease. Patients cancer frequently suffer from sarcopenia progressive loss of muscle mass, strength, function. The complex interplay between its treatment, including medical therapy, radiotherapy, surgery, significantly contributes to the onset worsening sarcopenia. Cancer induces wasting through inflammatory processes, metabolic alterations, hormonal imbalance. Moreover, radiation therapies exert direct toxic effects on muscles, contributing impairment physical Loss appetite, malnutrition, inactivity further exacerbate in patients. Imaging techniques are cornerstones for diagnosis. Magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography, dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry provide valuable insights into structure quality. Although each modality has advantages limitations, magnetic imaging produces high-resolution images provides dynamic information about Despite these challenges, addressing essential optimizing treatment outcomes improving survival rates patients cancer. This review explored factors oncologic patients, emphasizing importance early detection comprehensive management strategies.

Radiation-induced muscle pathology, characterized by atrophy and fibrotic tissue accumulation, is the most common debilitating late effect of therapeutic radiation exposure particularly in juvenile cancer survivors. In healthy muscle, fibro/adipogenic progenitors (FAPs) are required for maintenance regeneration, while pathology FAPs precursors exacerbated extracellular matrix deposition. However, role radiation-induced has not previously been explored.Four-week-old Male CBA or C57Bl/6J mice received a single dose (16 Gy) irradiation (IR) to hindlimb with shielded contralateral limb (CLTR) serving as non-IR control. Mice were sacrificed 3, 7, 14 (acute IR response), 56 days post-IR (long-term response). Changes skeletal morphology, myofibre composition, niche cellular dynamics, DNA damage, proliferation, mitochondrial respiration, metabolism changes progenitor cell fate where assessed.Juvenile resulted smaller cross-sectional area, type I IIA myofibres (P < 0.05) reduced proportion 0.05). Skeletal fibrosis was evident at post-IR. The IR-limb had fewer endothelial cells fibro-adipogenic Fewer satellite (stem) detected 3 induced FAP senescence 0.05), increased their fibrogenic differentiation 0.01), promoted glycolytic metabolism. Further, altered secretome manner that impaired fusion 0.05).Our study suggests following exposure, contribute long-term fibrosis. These findings provide rationale investigating FAP-targeted therapies ameliorate negative effects muscle.

ABSTRACT Purpose Obesity increases colon cancer risk that has been previously linked to marrow-derived myeloid cells. We demonstrated exercise training (EX) prevents initiation, potentially through reduced myelopoiesis. However, it remains unknown whether early cell accumulation and inflammation in the precedes carcinogenesis with high-fat diet (HFD)-induced obesity, if EX can attenuate these effects. hypothesized obesity would promote was preceded by be attenuated EX. Methods C57BL/6 mice were randomized a HFD or control (CON) for 8 weeks. The switched CON all given intraperitoneal injections of azoxymethane (AOM) induce into sedentary (SED) conditions. Results developed more aberrant crypt foci (ACF), marker carcinogenesis, compared ( P < 0.01), fewer ACF SED 0.0001). Conclusions results suggest promotes formation, inflammatory accumulation. Despite attenuating ACF, colon, suggesting inhibits formation alternative mechanisms which may include signaling.
