The imbalance between the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and antioxidant defenses determines a state known as oxidative stress. Higher levels pro-oxidants compared to may generate damage, which, in turn, lead modifications cellular proteins, lipids, DNA, reducing functional capacity increasing risk diseases. Nevertheless, clearance harmful chemical is achieved by defense systems. These protection systems are referred first second lines comprise classic antioxidants, enzymatic nonenzymatic defenses, including glutathione. This book presents discusses advancement research on health diseases their underlying mechanisms, exploring mainly aspects related glutathione system.

Genetic markers have been used to assess the freezability of semen. With advancement in molecular genetic techniques, it is possible relationships between sperm functions and gene polymorphisms. In this study, variant calling analysis RNA-Seq datasets was identify single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) boar spermatozoa explore associations SNPs post-thaw semen quality. Assessment quality characteristics showed that 21 boars were considered as having good (GSF), while 19 classified poor (PSF). Variant demonstrated most (67%) detected at 3’-untranslated regions (3’-UTRs). Analysis SNP abundance various functional categories ontology (GO) terms related response stress, motility, metabolism, reproduction, embryo development. Genomic DNA isolated from samples 40 boars. Forty selected genotyped, several significantly associated with motility membrane integrity frozen-thawed (FT) spermatozoa. Polymorphism SCLT1 higher plasma FT GSF group compared those PSF group. Likewise, MAP3K20, MS4A2, ROBO1 genes reduced cryo-induced lipid peroxidation damage Candidate significant associations, including APPL1, PLBD1, FBXO16, EML5, RAB3C, OXSR1, PRICKLE1, MAP3K20 genes, represent potential for quality, they might be relevant future improvement selection procedure cryopreservation. The findings study provide evidence indicating expressed could factors

Sperm chemotaxis, which guide sperm toward oocyte, is tightly associated with capacitation, motility, and fertility. However, the molecular mechanism of chemotaxis not known. Reproductive odorant taste receptors, belong to G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCR) super-family, cause an increase in intracellular Ca2+ concentration pre-requisite for capacitation acrosomal reaction, result hyperpolarization motility through activation Ca2+-dependent Cl¯ channels. Recently, (ORs) olfactory transduction pathway were thought be post-thaw freeze tolerance or freezability cryo-capacitation-like change during cryopreservation. Investigation roles (TRs) important our understanding improve fertility sperm. Here, we reviewed roles, mode action, impact on quality.
