The development of sustainable smart cities (SSCs) is pivotal for contemporary urban expansion, as highlighted by numerous international frameworks and scholarly studies. This study focused on Saudi Arabia to identify assess the key challenges impeding evolution intelligent environments. By categorizing hierarchically analyzing these impediments, research isolates most significant barriers SSC advancement. A total 18 obstacles were identified, organized into four categories, reviewed using existing literature. Semi-structured interviews conducted with stakeholders engaged in executing initiatives, enriching from a practical perspective. Additionally, survey ranked barriers, revealing that social economic factors pose challenges, followed governance legal, technology, environment. findings this offer critical insights policymakers governments mitigate efforts.

ABSTRACT Sustainable cities are essential drivers of global social progress, but the effectiveness smart city (SC) initiatives in fostering inclusive green growth (IGG) remains uncertain. This study assesses impact SC on IGG using data from 281 Chinese prefecture‐level 2007 to 2020. We explore both theoretical and empirical dimensions, focusing mechanisms through which pilot policies influence IGG. By treating varied implementation pilots as exogenous shocks a difference‐in‐difference (DID) framework combined with machine learning algorithms, we find significant increase that adopted compared those did not. Our results highlight critical role advancing IGG, robust after rigorous robustness checks. The positive effects primarily driven by three key pathways: enhancing financial inclusion, promoting industrial upgrading, stimulating innovation. Notably, is more pronounced economically developed regions, particularly eastern part China larger cities. However, contribution less smaller areas weaker economic dynamism, central western regions. underscores importance offers new insights into relationship between informatization sustainable development.

As global cities rapidly develop, the realization of sustainable urban development has become a pressing concern. critical component built environment, green spaces are essential for maintaining sustainability ecosystems by offering variety ecological benefits. However, there some problems in design and construction framework, which often disregard real needs residents hinder areas. Therefore, planning that takes into account supply demand relationship space is considered to be key technology should help improve residents’ happiness promote development. This paper Zunyi City as an example; selects six indicators; combines UAV images, population, economic, environmental data evaluate ecosystem services valuation existing city; analyzes its social needs. Affected land utilization density, value showed low spatial density characteristics central area high distribution surrounding area.
