The poor compatibility with nonpolar lubricant still hinders the application of carbon dots (CDs) in lubrication. In addition, research proves that existence ionic structure and active groups on CDs are conducive to their lubricity. order obtain structures good oil synchronously, a kind nitrogen-doped (NCDs) was synthesized via alkylation nitrogen NCDs anion exchange. new material could exhibit tribological performance as poly alpha olefins (PAO4) additives low addition. Moreover, an liquid, [N44HH][DEHP], same chosen comparison investigate role NCD cations. surface analyses demonstrate cations phosphate ester anions adsorb friction interface play synergistic lubrication during process, which generate superior carbon-based tribofilm.

The dispersion stability of nanomaterials in lubricants significantly influences tribological performance, yet their addition as lubricant additives often presents challenges secondary dispersion. Here, we present a straightforward method for situ preparation N,S-codoped CDs (N,S-CDs)-based using heterocyclic aromatic hydrocarbons containing N/S elements poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) base oil by directional ultrasound strategy. Two types N,S-CDs were successfully prepared via the treatment PEG with benzothiazole (BTA) and benzothiadiazole (BTH) separately. resultant have uniform distribution N S maintain good colloidal even after 9 months storage. can enter surface gap friction pairs then induce tribochemical reaction. Benefiting from synergistic effect activating elements, robust stable protective film consisting iron sulfides, oxides, carbon nitrides, amorphous carbonaceous compounds is formed, thus endowing N,S-CDs-based improved antiwear friction-reducing performance. Compared pure PEG, coefficient (COF) N,S-CDs(BTH)-based decreased to 0.108 0.292, accompanied 91.2% reduction wear volume, maximum load carrying capacity increased 450 150 N.

Supramolecular oleogel is a promising lubricant, showing satisfactory lubrication performance and excellent stability. In this work, series of gallium-based liquid metal (GLM)-based nano-oleogels were prepared by combining alkylthiol self-assembled GLM nanodroplets (C12@GLM) α-lipoic acid ester-based dynamic covalently linked supramolecular gels. The disulfide bonds not only facilitate the formation dense gel networks but also hinder sedimentation nanoparticles forming coordinate with C12@GLM, thereby conferring great dispersion stability (more than 2 months). superior friction wear reduction [email protected] was observed, coefficient decreased to 0.108 from 0.216, volume loss reduced 73.04%, load carrying capacity increased 50 550 N, compared base oil. conjunction shear thinning creep recovery rheological properties nano-oleogels, mechanism studies revealed that are disrupted under shear, releasing oil nanoparticles. lubricating film assisted synergistic action nanoadditives lubricants, tribochemical reaction consisting iron oxides sulfides, along nanodroplets.
