The proportion of the elderly population is gradually increasing as a result medical care advances, leading to subsequent surge in geriatric diseases that significantly impact quality life and pose substantial healthcare burden. Sarcopenia, characterized by age-related decline skeletal muscle mass quality, affects considerable portion older adults, particularly elderly, can adverse outcomes such frailty, fractures, bedridden, hospitalization, even mortality. Skeletal aging accompanied underlying metabolic changes. Therefore, elucidating these profiles specific mechanisms holds promise for informing prevention treatment strategies sarcopenia. This review provides comprehensive overview key metabolites identified current clinical studies on sarcopenia their potential pathophysiological alterations activity. Besides, we examine therapeutic from perspective focused regulation.

Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a chronic inflammatory disease that extends beyond musculoskeletal and dermatologic involvement to elevate cardiometabolic risk. Emerging evidence highlights the critical role of systemic inflammation in metabolic dysregulation, accelerating insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, oxidative stress, all which contribute increased burden cardiovascular PsA. This review explores intricate interplay between mediators—such as tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6), interleukin-17 (IL-17),—adipokine imbalances, lipid metabolism abnormalities, foster endothelial dysfunction atherosclerosis. The dysregulation adipokines, including leptin, adiponectin, resistin, further perpetuates cascades, exacerbating Additionally, alterations seen PsA, particularly resistance dysfunction, not only comorbidities but also impact severity therapeutic response. Understanding these mechanistic links imperative for refining risk stratification strategies tailoring interventions. By integrating targeted immunomodulatory therapies with management, more comprehensive approach PsA treatment can be achieved. Future research must focus on elucidating shared pathways, enabling development innovative mitigate both complications

Recent studies have implicated pre-beta and beta lipoproteins (VLDL LDL) in the etiopathogenesis of complications diabetes mellitus (DM). In contrast, alpha lipoprotein (HDL) is protective cells pancreas. This study examined distribution HDL islets Langerhans murine models type 1 diabetic rats (streptozotocin (STZ)-induced DM Wistar rats) 2 (Goto–Kakizaki (GK), non-diabetic Zucker lean (ZL), fatty (ZDF)). The extent by which co-localizes with insulin or glucagon pancreas was also investigated. Pancreatic tissues non-diabetic, Wistar, GK, ZL, ZDF were processed for immunohistochemistry. samples GK fed either a low-fat high-fat diet prepared transmission immune-electron microscopy (TIEM) to establish cytoplasmic localization islet cells. detected core periphery pancreatic diabetic, rats. average total immune positive markedly (<0.05) reduced comparison controls. number containing remarkably (p < 0.05) on food. co-localization using immunofluorescence TIEM techniques showed that alongside within secretory granules β-cells. did not co-localize glucagon. observation implies may contribute metabolism insulin.

With advances in therapies to reduce cardiovascular events and improvements coronary imaging, an increasing number of clinical trials have demonstrated that treatments artery disease are associated with favorable effects on atherosclerotic plaque size characteristics. It has been observed various drugs may induce regression enhance stability after formation. Numerous conducted verify the occurrence stabilization their beneficial events. Using invasive imaging techniques such as intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) optical coherence tomography (OCT), researchers able gather evidence supporting existence regression. In this review, we explore possible mechanisms regression, summarize features assemble from studies used different observational endpoints.

Elevated levels of cholesterol in the bloodstream, also referred to as hypercholesterolemia, pose a significant risk for onset cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Oxysterols, cholesterol-derived oxidized compounds that form enzymatically or non-enzymatically, contribute development atherosclerosis coronary artery disease. This study aimed examine critical oxysterol children adolescents with hypercholesterolemia explore correlation between these levels, oxidative stress, progression. The included 20 patients familial (FH) healthy individuals aged 6 18 years. Participants were categorized into (6–9 years) (10–18 years). Pediatric adolescent selected from among subjects LDL-C ≥ 130 mg/dL diagnosed heterozygous (HeFH) based on presence mutations LDL receptor (LDL-R) gene. Patients HeFH who receiving regular atorvastatin therapy study. There no notable differences catalase paraoxonase (PON1) activities groups. However, patient group displayed substantially higher malondialdehyde (MDA) (P = 0.0108) superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity 0.0103). Compared control group, serum chitotriosidase (CHITO) 0.037) chitinase 3-like protein 1 (YKL-40) 0.0027) significantly elevated group. Furthermore, carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) measurements greater than those (**P < 0.0001****). exhibited 5,6-α-epoxycholesterol, Cholestane-3β,5α,6β-triol (C-triol), 7-ketocholesterol (7-KC), whereas 27-hydroxycholesterol (27-OHC) was more abundant On other hand, while 27-OHC/Total (Total-C) individuals, C-Triol/Total-C ratio patients. No found groups terms 7-KC/Total-C 5,6-α-epoxycholesterol/Total-C levels. highlights key roles oxysterols, macrophage activation pediatric FH. C-Triol FH patients, alongside increased CIMT, point early vascular changes despite therapy. In contrast, 27-OHC controls suggest differential regulation due cholesterol-lowering treatments 27-OHC/Total-C ratios showed potential biomarkers distinguish These findings emphasize need therapies targeting stress addition interventions.
