Abstract Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) refers to chronic inflammatory disorders of the gut. Ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn’s (CD) are two subtypes IBD. Evidence suggests that intestinal microbiota plays a role in pathogenesis IBD, so probiotics have garnered lot interest as potential treatment or prevention for However, clinical evidence efficacy is still debatable. We performed literature review. An advanced search considered studies on probiotic IBD from inception 2023 PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web Science. In UC with probiotics, only Escherichia coli Nissle 1917 maintenance remission, Bifidobacterium VSL#3 induction remission patients mild moderately active shown strong evidence. Currently, there no definitive conclusions regarding effectiveness CD. The mechanism may be related reducing oxidative stress, repairing barrier, regulating flora balance, modulating immune response. Differences benefits between CD attributable different lesion extent immune-mediated pathophysiology. More robust randomized trials required validate safety diverse strains

Preclinical evidence has firmly established a bidirectional interaction among the lung, gut, and gut microbiome. There are many complex communication pathways between lung intestine, which affect each other's balance. Some metabolites produced by intestinal microorganisms, immune cells, factors enter tissue through blood circulation participate in function. Altered gut-lung-microbiome interactions have been identified rodent models humans of several diseases such as pulmonary fibrosis, chronic obstructive disease, cancer, asthma, etc. Emerging suggests that microbial therapies can prevent treat respiratory diseases, but it is unclear whether this association simple correlation with pathological mechanisms disease or result causation. In review, we summarize critical link microbiota well influence mechanism on discuss role interventions prebiotics fecal bacteria transplantation diseases. To provide reference for rational design large-scale clinical studies, direct application therapy to respiratory-related reduce incidence severity accompanying complications.

The extensive use of antimicrobial growth promoters (AGPs) in livestock has raised global concerns due to increasing resistance (AMR) among pathogenic microbes. This review examines probiotics as a sustainable alternative AGPs, offering safer approach for promoting animal and health. Probiotics enhance productivity immunity by producing compounds competing with pathogens nutrients. In addition, strengthen the gut barrier modulate microbiome, facilitating beneficial bacterial while suppressing species. Studies demonstrate efficacy probiotic strains genera Lactobacillus Bifidobacterium inhibiting such Clostridium perfringens Salmonella livestock. comprehensive evaluation highlights probiotics' potential advance practices, reduce reliance on antibiotics, mitigate AMR risks, underscoring need further research regulatory considerations their husbandry.

ABSTRACT The microbial plate count continues to be an essential technique in food microbiology research and quality control. In science education, this is often taught through traditional fact-based methods, requiring students follow pre-established protocols. This approach may not fully engage or enhance their problem-solving skills. Eighty-two final-year Food Science Technology bachelor’s at the University of Milan were asked combine knowledge on general physiology for assessment different probiotic products, including freeze-dried cells, fermented milk, bacterial spore suspension. They required select appropriate culture media, incubation conditions, treatments based flow cytometry cell quantification optimize counts selectively species present formulations. project aimed bridge theoretical with practical applications, emphasizing most procedure viable cultivable quantification, particularly relevant formulation. Survey feedback indicated high satisfaction relevance future careers, majority finding activity challenging yet engaging. demonstrated effectiveness combining microbiological techniques fostering a deeper understanding cultivability probiotics role selective agents.

Bacteria, yeast, and microalgae serve as catalysts in producing several food components, such enzymes nutraceuticals. The current trend for natural ingredients has significantly increased the demand microbially-derived flavours, colours, their large-scale bioprocessing. It is, therefore, crucial that microbes are exploited bio-factories continuous production of metabolites like organic acids, enzymes, proteins, vitamins, antibiotics, hydrocolloids. been shown lactic acid bacteria, particular Lactococcus lactis, make best cell factories to manufacture these vital In recent years, researchers have discovered bacteria also a significant source terpenes, components many medications additives. Furthermore, diseases including protein energy malnutrition (PEM), anaemia, diarrhoea, cancer, obesity, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, irritable bowel syndrome, gluten-treatment-resistant celiac disease can all benefit from use microorganisms adjuvant therapy.

Background: Probiotics, as supplements or food ingredients, are considered to exert promising healthy effects when administered in adequate quantity. Probiotics’ related with the prevention of many diseases, well decreasing symptom severity. Currently, most available data concerning their potential health associated metabolic disorders, including gestational diabetes mellitus. There is also clinical evidence supporting that they may beneficial against diverse adverse pregnancy outcomes. The purpose current narrative study extensively review and analyze existing studies probable positive impacts probiotics supplementation during a protective agent outcomes beyond Methods: comprehensive thorough literature search was conducted precise scientific databases, such PubMed, Scopus, Web Sciences, utilizing efficient, representative, appropriate keywords. Results: last few years, recent research has been several lipid metabolism dysregulation, hypertensive preterm birth, excessive weight gain, caesarean risk section, vaginal microbiota impairment, mental disturbances, others. Conclusion: up present day, there only preliminary not conclusive results for probiotics’ pregnancy, it remains questionable whether could be used supplementary treatment
