Abstract In this study, we reported genomic and phenotypic safety assessment of probiotic Bacillus subtilis DC-11 isolated from traditionally fermented Idli Batter. The strain was evaluated for properties, biofilm formation, antimicrobial compound production. determined by accessing the strain’s ability to produce enterotoxins, degrade mucin, antibiotic sensitivity. Whole genome sequencing (WGS) performed identify determine genetic analyzing presence plasmids, resistance genes, virulence factors. results, B. showed 88.98% viability in gastric juice, 98.60% intestinal juice. It 18.33 ± 0.44% autoaggregation, 32.53 3.11% adhesion xylene, 0.98 0.05 OD unit’s mucin (crystal violet equivalence at 550 nm), 21.2 2.3% Caco-2 cells, − 22.3 0.65 mV zeta potential. highest co-aggregation recorded with Escherichia coli (23.62 0.70%). found negative enterotoxin production, degradation, commonly used therapeutic antibiotics. formed a good capable producing peptide subtilosin A molecular mass 3400 Da. has inhibited growth methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (18.6 0.58 mm). safety, no antibiotic-resistant factors were detected. Moreover, close similarity ATCC 6051 proteins involved attributes. conclusion, is safe potential candidate.

Abstract Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) refers to chronic inflammatory disorders of the gut. Ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn’s (CD) are two subtypes IBD. Evidence suggests that intestinal microbiota plays a role in pathogenesis IBD, so probiotics have garnered lot interest as potential treatment or prevention for However, clinical evidence efficacy is still debatable. We performed literature review. An advanced search considered studies on probiotic IBD from inception 2023 PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web Science. In UC with probiotics, only Escherichia coli Nissle 1917 maintenance remission, Bifidobacterium VSL#3 induction remission patients mild moderately active shown strong evidence. Currently, there no definitive conclusions regarding effectiveness CD. The mechanism may be related reducing oxidative stress, repairing barrier, regulating flora balance, modulating immune response. Differences benefits between CD attributable different lesion extent immune-mediated pathophysiology. More robust randomized trials required validate safety diverse strains

Preclinical evidence has firmly established a bidirectional interaction among the lung, gut, and gut microbiome. There are many complex communication pathways between lung intestine, which affect each other's balance. Some metabolites produced by intestinal microorganisms, immune cells, factors enter tissue through blood circulation participate in function. Altered gut-lung-microbiome interactions have been identified rodent models humans of several diseases such as pulmonary fibrosis, chronic obstructive disease, cancer, asthma, etc. Emerging suggests that microbial therapies can prevent treat respiratory diseases, but it is unclear whether this association simple correlation with pathological mechanisms disease or result causation. The extensive use of antimicrobial growth promoters (AGPs) in livestock has raised global concerns due to increasing resistance (AMR) among pathogenic microbes. This review examines probiotics as a sustainable alternative AGPs, offering safer approach for promoting animal and health. Probiotics enhance productivity immunity by producing compounds competing with pathogens nutrients. In addition, strengthen the gut barrier modulate microbiome, facilitating beneficial bacterial while suppressing species. Studies demonstrate efficacy probiotic strains genera Lactobacillus Bifidobacterium inhibiting such Clostridium perfringens Salmonella livestock. comprehensive evaluation highlights probiotics' potential advance practices, reduce reliance on antibiotics, mitigate AMR risks, underscoring need further research regulatory considerations their husbandry.

Eighty-two final-year Food Science Technology bachelor’s at the University of Milan were asked combine knowledge on general physiology for assessment different probiotic products, including freeze-dried cells, fermented milk, bacterial spore suspension. They required select appropriate culture media, incubation conditions, treatments based flow cytometry cell quantification optimize counts selectively species present formulations. project aimed bridge theoretical with practical applications, emphasizing most procedure viable cultivable quantification, particularly relevant formulation.
