This study investigates the effects of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) on brain network connectivity in individuals with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). In a randomized, double-blind, sham-controlled experimental design anodal tDCS (vs. sham) was applied total 43 right-handed patients OCD, targeting right pre-supplementary motor area (pre-SMA). Cathodal reference electrode put left pre-SMA. The set as 2 mA, duration either 30 s (sham) or 1200 s. Concurrent resting-state functional MRI data were collected following (or stimulation. We employed regression dynamic causal modelling (rDCM) to extract whole effective (EC) matrices subsequently analyzing these through graph theory approaches examine changes activity across different scales. found that compared sham caused significant local connectivity. Increased recruitment level detectable sensorimotor (SMN), indicating enhanced intra-network after active tDCS. Clustering coefficient and efficiency also be increased same area. No regard global Current findings indicate single-session can effectively alter connectivities within SMN OCD patients. Given relevance connected regions for pathophysiology we believe areas might constitute an intervention normalize altered OCD. used single session, which may not reflect long-term effects.

Obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD) is one of the most commonly seen mental disorders onset from childhood. The neural mechanisms underlying OCD development and maintenance remain poorly understood. Various empirical evidence structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) studies has reported differences in grey matter (GM) among pediatric patients. However, some findings diverge others, association between GM individual remains inconclusive. To address this gap, we conducted a meta-analysis to synthesize quantitatively. current research quantitative voxel-based elucidate existence correlates OCD. A whole brain-based d-mapping approach was utilized explore changes further analyze relationship Thirteen were included with 288 patients 273 controls. Compared controls, demonstrated significantly greater volume left insula (SDM value = 1.72, p < 0.005) superior frontal gyrus (SFG) (orbital part) 1.47, 0.005), whereas showed lower right temporal (STG) -1.87, inferior parietal gyri (IPG) -1.60, middle occipital (MOG) -1.66, (IFG) -1.69, 0.005). increase SFG decrease IPG found those without psychiatric comorbidities treatment-naive subgroup. Meta-regression analysis revealed that longer duration associated less -3.057, Finally, age symptoms severity positively z 2.387, Our confirmed consistent OCD, particularly MOG, part), suggesting they are potential markers Larger smaller volumes specific untreated symptom also influence structure. Background Previous studies based on resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging(rs-fMRI) and voxel-based morphometry (VBM) have demonstrated significant abnormalities in brain structure activity patients with early-onset schizophrenia (EOS), compared healthy controls (HCs), these alterations were closely related to the pathogenesis of EOS. However, previous suffer from limitations small sample sizes high heterogeneity results. Therefore, present study aimed effectively integrate identify common specific structural Methods The PubMed, Web Science, Embase, Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), WanFang databases systematically searched publications regional gray matter volume (GMV) Then, we utilized Seed-based d Mapping Permutation Subject Images (SDM-PSI) software conduct a whole-brain voxel meta-analysis VBM rs-fMRI studies, respectively, followed by multimodal overlapping this basis comprehensively Results A total 27 original (28 datasets) included meta-analysis, including 12 (13 (496 EOS patients, 395 HCs) 15 (15 GMV (458 531 HCs). Overall, showed significantly increased left middle frontal gyrus (extending triangular part inferior gyrus) right caudate nucleus. On other hand, decreased superior temporal rolandic operculum), gyrus, pole (superior gyrus). Conclusion This revealed that some regions exhibited or abnormalities, such as gyri, prefrontal cortex, striatum. These findings may help deepen our understanding underlying pathophysiological mechanisms provide potential biomarkers for diagnosis treatment
