The concept of happiness is consistent across cultures to a significant extent, and encompasses both internal (subjective) external (situational) aspects. Cultural values norms shape emotions behavior from an early age, hence play key role in influencing cross-national variations happiness. Cross-national culture can thus the relationship between adverse circumstances, such as COVID-19 pandemic, current study examines six dimensions culture, defined by Hofstede his colleagues, subjective ratings 78 countries, obtained before (2017-19) during (2020-21) based on data most recent World Happiness reports. results were: (a) countries were likely experience increase decrease self-reported this period; (b) distinct domains significantly correlated with at each time point, though there was certain degree overlap; (c) pre-pandemic levels negatively associated changes pandemic; (d) among cultural dimensions, long-term orientation positively happiness, while indulgence variable. This study explored the determinants of happiness during COVID-19 pandemic by emphasizing a broad range factors, including individual (i.e. socio-demographic status, life situations, attitudinal and perceptual characteristics) policy restrictions.
