As the worldwide demand for meat per person is continuously increasing, there a corresponding rise in number of livestock animals, leading to an increase manure. Selecting appropriate treatment technologies manures still complex task and considerable debates over this issue persist. To develop more comprehensive understanding manure framework, review was undertaken assess most utilized management underscore their respective challenges. Anaerobic digestion has become commercial reality treating manures. However, mono-digestion single substrates comes with certain drawbacks associated characteristics. co-digestion, involving utilization multiple feedstocks, holds potential overcome these limitations. Extensive research development have underscored numerous intrinsic benefits co-digestion. These include improved digestibility resulting from synergistic effects co-substrates enhanced process stability. This underscores limitations critically evaluates advantages co-digestion carbon-rich substrates. Additionally, delves into key practices globally, emphasizing significance co-digesting while addressing progress challenges field.

Low and unstable digestion performance is a challenging issue for anaerobic digestion, which prompts researchers to develop new strategies. In addition traditional approaches such as co-digestion, pre-treatment, recirculation, some emerging strategies, namely additive processes microaeration, have also been recognized developed in recent years. Many studies evaluated the effect of these strategies on performance. However, their comprehensive analysis lacking, especially regarding mechanisms different This review presents overview research progress based latest research, considering five main listed above. Through critical thinking, summary mechanism, reactor performance, availability presented. The results demonstrate that contribution microaeration mainly balance composition activity hydrolysis, acidogenesis, methanogenic archaea. Recirculation co-digestion mass reaction environments. Pre-treatment, removing lignin, reducing cellulose crystallinity, increasing substrate-specific surface area, makes characteristics substrate more conducive microorganisms. mechanism varies greatly depending type additive, enhancing interspecies electron transfer through conductive materials, resisting adverse conditions functional microbial additives, accelerating nutrient absorption by regulating bioavailability trace elements. Although promoting ultimate allow parameters reach an ideal status then achieve among substance, microorganisms, water reactor.

Wheat straw (WS) has long been subjected to rough treatment by traditional incineration, which not only results in the waste of biomass resources but also poses a risk atmospheric pollution and is conducive sustainable utilization natural resources. With great humification potential, WS can be utilized as valuable composting material. The study optimized C/N ratio mixing chicken manure (CM) raw materials, found that this method could significantly improve compost quality. In comparison conventional poplar woodchip (PW) conditioning, incorporation resulted an elevated temperature, extended high-temperature period, more expeditious lignocellulose degradation, notable enhancement organic matter content, suppression hydrogen sulfide production under low ratio, promotion elemental sulfur conversion, collectively contributing enhanced overall quality environmental friendliness compost. Correlation analysis microbial communities factors demonstrated mixed facilitated growth actinomycetes sulfur-transforming bacteria. Additionally, structural equation model indicated parameters such temperature pH value played key role process.

Abstract Biogas contains significant quantities of undesirable and toxic compounds, such as hydrogen sulfide (H 2 S), posing severe concerns when used in energy production-related applications. Therefore, biogas needs to be upgraded by removing H S increase their bioenergy application attractiveness lower negative environmental impacts. Commercially available upgradation processes can expensive for small medium-scale production plants, wastewater treatment facilities via anaerobic digestion process. In addition, an all-inclusive review detailing a comparison biochar hydrochar removal is currently unavailable. the current study aimed critically systematically biochar/hydrochar from biogas. To achieve this, first part discussed technologies properties vs. hydrochar. exisiting adsorption mechanisms, namely physical adsorption, reactive chemisorption, responsible with char materials were discussed. Also, factors, including feedstock type, activation strategies, reaction temperature, moisture content, other process parameters that could influence behaviour are summarised. Finally, synergy trade-offs between sectors techno-economic feasibility using presented. Biochar’s excellent structural coupled alkaline pH high metal facilitate physisorption chemisorption pathways removal. case hydrochar, occurs mainly which attributed well-preserved surface functional groups.
