The growing field of nanotechnology presents opportunity for applications across many sectors. Nanostructures, such as nanoparticles, hold distinct properties based on their size, shape, and chemical modifications that allow them to be utilized in both highly specific well broad capacities. As the classification nanoparticles becomes more well-defined list grows, it is imperative toxicity investigated. One cellular system importance are membranes (biomembranes). Membranes present one first points contact at level. This review will address current studies aimed defining biomolecular interactions level cell membrane, with a focus prominent lipid systems.
