Health considerations are seldom integrated into non-state voluntary sustainability certification standards, despite industrial fishing being one of the most hazardous occupations, often resulting in significant health risks for fishers. These challenges not only affect individual fishers but also have broader implications socio-ecological fisheries. This study explores effects programs on activities and their safety dimensions within a framework, focusing Atlantic shrimp fishery Nigeria. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining qualitative quantitative data collection techniques. Data were gathered from experienced employees Friend Sea (FOS) certified non-certified (Business-as-Usual, BAU) fisheries through questionnaires, complemented by semi-structured interviews with selected key informants. The examines relationships between demographic variables, health-related indicators, program participation using multivariate analyses, including Chi-square standard logistic regression models. findings revealed that participating FOS reported better conditions, lower risks, higher insurance coverage levels than BAU counterparts. Certified had greater access to sick leave annual days off more likely be physically fit work. The Black Sea ecosystem faces significant challenges due to climate change and human activities. Despite this, the opportunities potential of its Blue Economy role Turkish stakeholders in key sectors have not been well documented. To define needs Sea’s outline existing problems, a workshop entitled “ Engaging Stakeholders: Trabzon Multi-Actor Forum ” was held (Türkiye) November 2022. Stakeholders from research sector, academia, civil society, industry, business, competent authorities, government shared their thoughts on various Economy, covering 17 areas. They discussed political, environmental, social, technical, legal, economic aspects, revealing opportunities, challenges, areas where more is needed. This meeting provided valuable insights, indicating that efficient collaboration with could lead effective solutions strategies, helping improve region.

Pollution from toxic chemicals and hazardous waste domestic international sources are among the environmental challenges that Nigeria is facing.
