Complex mechanisms exist between public risk perception, emotions, and coping behaviors during health emergencies. To unravel the relationship these three phenomena, a meta-analytic approach was employed in this study. Using Comprehensive Meta-Analysis 3.0, 81 papers were analyzed after selection. The results of meta-analysis showed that (1) perception (perceived severity, perceived susceptibility) negative emotions (especially fear) are both correlated with behaviors; (2) is strongly fear moderately anxiety; (3) anxiety predicts adoption behaviors. existing research provided an empirical basis for implementing effective behavior interventions implied management decisionmakers need to consider reasonable through multiple channels maintain public’s within appropriate levels. However, from government mass has not been evaluated. Objective This study aimed describe assess outlets in Canada. Methods A comprehensive systematic search 2 databases, Canadian Newsstream Business & Current Affairs, was run using terms related source illnesses, general outbreak characteristics, relevant pathogen names retrieve articles issued between 2014 2023, corresponding 46 public health notices (PHNs) communicating information about same period. codebook comprised 3 sections—general characteristics article, consistency accuracy presented PHNs articles, presence belief model constructs—was developed applied dataset. Data were tabulated visualized RStudio (Posit). Results News communicated almost all (44/46, 96%). commonly their own (320/528, 60.6%) notify an its associated product recall (121/320, 37.8%), but rarely conclusion (12/320, 3.8%). most such as number cases (237/319, 74.3%), deaths less than half time (114/260, 43.8%). Benefit barrier constructs infrequently present (50/243, 20.6% 15/243, 6.2%, respectively). Conclusions disseminated outbreaks. differences coverage evident. Existing evidence regarding the role of perceived susceptibility in shaping preventative health behavior is mixed Health Belief Model (HBM). To clarify whether and under which conditions affects behavior, this study aims to better understand how situational environmental factors affect susceptibility, thereby decisions, mediation relationship conditioned by other HBM cognitions, namely benefits, severity. Therefore, we employed a scenario-based experiment large, representative sample German population (N = 4802) April 2022. Respondents were presented with fictional invitation social gathering, mimicked post messenger group chat. The included five experimentally manipulated scenarios: no measures implemented, COVID-19 test required; either testing negative, being vaccinated, or recovered from required (known as 3G context); reduced number attendees; gathering occurred outside. Moreover, contract at severity benefits (independent scenario) measured. We found that mediates between each implemented measure willingness attend gathering. effect on indirect attendance via moderated benefits. However, there lack robust moderates attendance. In summary, our provides individuals perceive adapt their perceptions preventive given situation, speaks dynamic nature cognition susceptibility. findings suggest promising avenue forward for examine cognitions environment together shape behavior.

The COVID-19 outbreak has spawned a wave of telecommuting all over the world. Based on Technology Acceptance Mode (TAM) and Theory Planned Behavior (TPB), this paper investigates how external technical factors (perceived usefulness perceived ease use) internal personal (risk perception, including severity susceptibility) influence using intention in context outbreak. Our findings suggest that use strongly affect user's favorable attitude towards telecommuting. results also support previous research TPB field, as attitude, normative influence, behavioral control have significant positive impact adoption In addition, hypotheses positively relates to are supported.
